My first spell

Post by Bychan Wulf »

I have cast a few spells before, but all of them were written by other, more experienced witches and I only changed a few words or added a verse to personalise it.
Yesterday, I had some problems focusing on my study (which almost never happens) and I lit a candle and prayed for it. I wasn't able to focus any more, but these words came to my mind and bothered me untill I wrote them down. I also rewrote it to rhyme and sound as logical as possible.

I cast the spell but it failed because the candle got blown off and refused to get lit again. (I will ask that in a different thread in order not to mix these 2)

Please tell me your thoughts about it: :D

Mother Earth, help me study
Bring distractions should nobody
Concentration, I need to learn
Positivity to me shall return (nothing else rhymed with learn)
Good memory, is what I ask
To aid me fulfill my task.
With harm to none, including me,
As I wish, so mote it be!

It's all about the flow. It should be easy to say.

I made a small change. I hope that doesn't offend you. Otherwise I like it. :fairy:
Lady stir your cauldron well, chant your words and sing your spell
Come and taste of the cauldron's brew and magic she will give to you

No, I don't get offended at all! Thank you for taking the time to bring the change! I am always thankful to get advice and directions from more experienced witches. :flyingwitch:

My only tweak would be to word this as statements of things already possessed rather than requests for what will come. Present-tense wording takes it from a future "maybe" and puts it into to the now.

Oh, I didn't think about that, but it makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

I think it is lovely. Simple, sweet, and practical.

Hope your studying goes a little smoother. Make good grades! :)

It looks like it's coming from the heart so except for changing the tense to present there's nothing to improve.
Sometimes its difficult to study as you near the end of school because you are already at the uni in your thoughts and spending time studying High school stuff is so annoying. But hold on, dear, you can do it!

Thank you Smogie and Moon!
High - School is not a problem any more. I always managed to get in the first 4 without putting too much work in it. My problem is that I am a logical thinker/learner and in order to get to Uni, I have to learn a 600 pages book by hard. Memorising every single detail, sometimes with the explination, that it is like that just because it's written there, is driving me crazy lol

This helps a lot. At least it has helped me. I have never been able to memorize a huge amount of information, because my brain doesn't work that way, so I had to find something to help me during my final exams in the Academy. Hopefully it'll help you too.

Oh, I understand that problem now. Learning by heart is a nuisance. :-/
But you will do it! :-)

Thanks! I read that and did it for my last exam. I thought I'd gove it a break, and then repeat the Mind Mirror a few months before the admission. It really is helpful;-).
You went to the Academy? As in the police academy

It would be fun to be a witchy police woman. Just imagine catching criminals with spells, like in Harry Potter :-)

Lol moon! Yeah, a woman, a witch and a talented singer....imagine all this in a police officer. I'd allow myself to be caught by such an officer, regardless of my crime :flyingwitch:

Haha, Bychan Wulf, I hope you don't break any laws :D
I did consider (and still consider actually) to get a Masters degree in Criminal psychology. Not for a job or anything, but because I actually would love to learn about criminal minds.

In my country in some universities you don't actually need to pass any exams to get a Masters degree, you only need to have a Bachelors degree to roll in. I like criminal psychology and once, when I used to actually have some spare time, I used to write articles for this criminal cases site, and I loved it. I watch a lot of criminal shows too.

Sorry for the off topic. Back to the thread - I hope you pass your exams :)
