Sea Witches?

Post by Naudia Threng »

So, ive been exploring the interwebs and The Sea Witch was mentioned. Can anyone give me information about sea witches and who they pray too?

Disclaimer: I'm not a Sea Witch, so I can't be cited as an expert in the area. Plus I would really like to see other members contribute their own experiences.

A lot of pantheons have deities and spirits associated with the seas and the life therein, that is likely the focus. I have a few books on the topic that I haven't been able to read through yet, but maybe I can produce a review in the far-future (you would not believe how long my to-read list is, I've gone through 3 books today so far and I haven't even made a dent). But the deity/spirit(s) you work with would be up to the individual.

Here are the two books I'm waiting to read, in case you have a little extra money and a desire to read earlier than later:

These books look super interesting! I'm very intrigued by sea witchcraft now ^^

[EDIT] I've just found this website, if any of you don't know about it: http://seawitch.org/
I haven't read everything, but I think it could be a good source of at least basic info, and it's free for those who can't afford the books (or not yet anyway ;) )

Thanks for the question/post! I just moved to where I'm close to the ocean and I'd been wondering what sorts of things I could do to bring it into my practice. :)

I really like the warning on this one, and also how she says that you don't necessary need tones if tools:

I'm not a sea witch but if you're looking for resources on water magic (including sea witches) you might consider Mermaid Magichttp://www.faerymagic.net/html/MermaidMagic.html. I have Witchy Magic by the same authors and I found that to be really comprehensive and easy and engaging to read.
