In Plant City, Florida, there is a park called dinosaur world- in it there is a place that lets you pan for gems. I did this and got large amounts of small crystals of quartz, amethyst, moonstone,aventurine, obsidian, fluorine,etc.. for 2,4, and 8 dollars depending on bag size.
Pretty cool.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I'm from Plant City and a lot of little kids like Dinosaur world. I haven't gone there though. I'm going to have to take my nephew out there and pan for some stones. He'd get a kick out of it.
