Better communication with my cat?

Post by Feather&Stone »

I've been blessed in that the cat I adopted is also my familiar. He's always around for spell work, readings, etc. so we're super in tune, which is awesome! Every so often though I feel like I'm not quite picking up what he's trying to communicate. What are your ideas?

How long has it been since your feline friend joined your family?

He's a cat, of course he doesn't tell you everything!

To an extent, I agree with ed. Your cat may just be waiting for you to learn how to understand him. Each of my cats has a personal communication style.

Animals are emotional.

They don't communicate precisely to each other either, they react on instinct.

It sounds like you already communicate the best you can. We humans expect poetry sometimes and they can't be poets :)

Well said! Probably do just need to work on better understanding communication styles.

I had one, years ago, that would pee on my pillow if she could see the bottom of her food dish. That was crude, but effective.

Google around, don't just look in spiritual boards... Look for general pet advice. Find out what the "love blink" is. Helps bunches. Good luck. :flyingwitch:

Cat treats! Bribe him for his secrets ;)
I guess you'll just have to give it time to get to know him better. In the mean time kitty treats and catnip will keep him content :)

Thank you all for your help! I think it's down to a matter of better knowing each other. But communication has gotten better since originally posting, so I appreciate all of
Your advice! :)

When a cat stares at you, ceaselessly, without blinking, it means "feed me".
When a cat stares at you, ceaselessly, and blinks, it means "feed me".
When a cat stares at you, like you just dropped in from Mars, it means "feed me".
Do you see the pattern here?
And when a cat ignores you, even when you are standing on your head, blowing bubbles, it may be eating.
