How do you tell the difference between wishful thinking and

How do you know if your dream is wishful thinking and if it is meaning ful?
An example is I liked this guy that i didnt know and i always had dreams that he liked me.
And now i like this guy that I talk to and in my dream i asked him if i made him feel better than some other girl and he told me to read a book and i would know. I know what the book was if you want to know the whole dream i can tell you. It was me and other people reading from a play and the people in it were all miserable and then i got out of the play and went to him sat on a chair with him and asked him if i made him feel better than Candy(that other girl). I dont know what to think about this dream if somone could help me it would be cool.
