Kool! I like the part where they mention these 'portals' as opening and closing many times during the day. Reminds me of planets having ruling hours and days.

They didn't really say where they manifest. ..like near the earth surface or way out on the stratosphere somewhere.
Then I wondered how much of an effect they would have on human emotions or psychic capabilities?
That would make a whole lot of sense when if feels like something is slamming you from out of left field somewhere.
