During the winter, I always buy in-the-shell raw peanuts for the crows. In late fall I watch for one to be hanging out in a nearby tree or on a pole. I then go out and throw the peanuts in the yard so they can see what I'm doing. Within 2-3 weeks I can usually get one to come up on the front porch for his, but always throw plenty in the yard for those that are not as trusting. By winter's end, they will usuall start cawing when they see me to let their flockmates know I'm putting out handouts!
I've heard of both a "mob of crows", and a "murder of crows". I believe both come from the belief that crows will literally put one of their flockmates on trial for transgressions. If found gulty, they will mob and murder the accused member of the flock. Don't know how accurate this is, but it's what I've heard........
By the prickling of my thumbs,
something Wiccan this way comes!

Thank You evil ed for posting, it enabled Me to see where this thread was hiding.
And thank You for the explanation of murder of crows.
I wonder who should be mobbed relative to a long standing feud?/
Cat knows what I am on about.

Sometimes they're just saying hello. The ones around my place are usually screeching at me to get away from "their" trees.

I've never thought of crows as a bad omen, despite what others may say. I like crows; they're smart and social and family-oriented and attracted to shiny objects, just like me. (I like to think I'm a little nicer than most crows, but that may or may not actually be the case.) Ravens, close relations to crows, are symbols of the god Odin.

and possibly executioner, but I was referring to their own inner crow tribunals.

Snow thinks they may be saying hi, and I like that. They interact with us more than we recognize sometimes. They stoped Heartsong while she was driving. They knew something she didn't that day.

I am fortunate to work several days at a recycle centre , it is located out in the country surrounded by trees full of crows.
I watch in amazement as they see off the birds of prey much larger than themselves.

Haha, I was at the river one day and watched a single crow chase a bald eagle all the way down the river, both of them screaming bloody murder all the way XD Usually you see two or three at least, but nope - one crow, one eagle, and the eagle was the one being chased. That was great.

I remember we used to never see ravens in my area, and from one year to the next they started coming here. At one point, there was a pair of ravens that I swear was following me - I saw them everywhere, the same ones, back when they were still pretty uncommon. It was at the same time kind of cool and kind of creepy XD Odin stop stalking me vicariously through your ravens

I think they are really cool. I appreciate the crow family network. They definitely look out for each other.

Did y'all see the white ravens in the raven and crow thread? They apparently are not albino. Anyone living near these birds? It must be quite a sight in real life. What do you guys think of the white bird, good, bad, indifferent?

Several years ago I visited stonehenge very early on a sharp frosty day, there was no other humans there, but plenty of crows.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6r6saoGurw

There was also countless mole hills freshly dug in the flint rich soils there.

I wrote a poem which I can't fully remember...
Stonehenge, henge of all, behind Your prison fencing,
The moles dig under it, the crows fly over it,
But I am poor, poor, poor. and the sign says pay , pay ,pay.

My rods can see what the crows and moles also see, so I don't need to pay.
My rods dance with delight, and the crows say cor cor cor.
The little moles paws must be sore sore sore.

One day stonehenge You will again be free free free.
When all again can see.

I have a strong connection and love for crows, so personally id say Yes it was a good sign. Maybe he felt you'r magical presence and was simply saying hello? Or maybe he's saying you should spend abit more time in nature ^^
I dont believe any animals to be Omens, if they take time to acknowledge you then you are lucky!

Just suppose.
That crows were the main defleshers of human remains?
What information may they have absorbed?

And why did humans put their desceaded out in the open for the crows to deflesh?

It's a difficult situation to face is DEATH, but just what is death?
