melting candles

I started doing alot of candle magick and was wondering on the 6'' small taper candles im useing they burn about a inch and then at the bottom about a inch up they start to melt! this has happened alot with diffrent colors. am I doing somthing wrong or is this common with these small candles? thanks silent stream :evilwitch:

Hi Silent Stream,

It sounds like something to do with how the candles were made. I'd try a different batch and see if the same thing happens again. That way you can be sure.

You probably already found your solution, but you may want to use thicker wick. If you add color to the wax, it makes it thicker and the candle won't burn with normal wick.
