The earliest Deity sculptures are from the Stone Age. Sixty were recoved and only five were male. The female one reresented the Goddess. Women groups or Matriarchies, claimed men and women were equal. Women though, owned the propert, the children took the mothers name and marriage was on the womens right. Men came and went in societies, the only stable figure was a women. When partriachieal groups arose, defensive wall, weapons, and war arised. Men took control of the goverment and religon of culture. Deites changed from Great Mother and goddesses to War God or All-Powerful God and gods in general.Many goddesses were connected to black magic now. Some women though, privatly rebelled. They did all the things they used too.

In english class, my teacher was impressed by my interpertation of the poem. My idea of the poem is its about childhood. Natures first green is gold means during your childhood, your happy and carefree and just golden. But, holding on to childhod is hard. Her early leaf means childhood and flower means your young and pretty. But this doesn't last long. Nothing gold can stay.

In springtime I grew a magic song and skipping along, I sang this song to everyone!
I look at this world through apple eyes and cut myself a slice of sunshine pie.

Wicca is very likely, the oldest western religon. It is a nature religon and a magickal system. It focuses on The Goddess and Her consort. Wicca is a way of life, a way of viewing things around you, and knowing deep withen everything has a purpose. Their are many forms of Wicca. Like I , Cinna, am a green witch, I deal with plants mostly. Finding the right form for you is important or creating your own. This passage is just about what Wicca is.

I'm interested to know which book you're copying from. I thought it was now common knowledge that nowhere near 9 million people died in the witch hunts.

Pope innocent IX did not write the Malleus Malificarum (Hammer of Witches). It was written by two men, one of which is suspected but not proven to be Henricus Institorus, the other was Jacobus Sprenger who wrote the book itself. These men were Friars at the time of writing. Anyway, that's enough on that for here I think. I have the book on my shelf, a little light reading.

Cinna, I would advise avoiding anything written by Conway! If you want a realistic version of the history of witchcraft try Ronald Hutton's "Triumph of the Moon". Hutton is a credited, respected historian.

I would say it's best to just leave the burning times out of it. It's documented but not agreed upon by all historians. There are many aspects still under investigation.

I started a topic on the Hammer somewhere around here...... I'll have to dif it up. I'm trying to do a short study into the Malleus Malificarum itself, not history just the book. To try and get a better understanding of what is written in it. It's not an easy read by any means though.

By the way Cinna, It's best to get at the least three seperate sources of information to confirm a point in a topic before saying anything concrete about it. Especially history, it's been written so many times it's difficult to pull the facts from the fiction. Just a piece of advise from an information analyst.

According to Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, Cinna is the name of two men, one who was among the conspirators who killed Caesar and the other was a poet who unfortunately shared his name and was killed mistakenly.
