What are your views on them?

I am not sure about all demigods, but I think that some of them were actually true Gods that were demoted, within mythology, when the culture that worshiped them was subjugated by a dominant culture with other gods. I suspect that Medea was something along this line.
Some myths, like those of Herekles, also seem to give honor to human qualities, and perhaps celibate humanity.

in some places not always does the word "demigod" mean litteraly "half god" sometimes it means a god who is lesser worshiped or viewed than the main gods.
