related to snakes.

Post by LovesPurpleWind »

I've always felt really close to snakes.
I feel like i can feel what they feel,
think what they think...
so I was wondering if there is any god/goddess
related to snakes?

I'm fairly new to all this and am still learning what gods/goddesses there are but after a google search here are a couple links i have found:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake_Goddess
http://www.pantheon.org/articles/m/mino ... ddess.html
http://witcombe.sbc.edu/snakegoddess/snakesegypt.html

Hope that helps. The name Minoan can up several times while I was searching.

Snake can equate to kudalini energy. Also viewed as the Goddess Shakti Ma. A Hindu Goddess. Kundalini energy can be view as an internal rising serpent. Also a great book to read would be DNA and the Origins of Knowledge, The Cosmic Serpent Its wonderfully enlightening about our DNA and the similarities between serpent energy. Even the bible mentions that women were originators of sin being led astray by the serpent. The serpent of knowledge. Once you start looking around you find serpent energy all throughout history and cultures. So serpent can be a very powerful trans-formative totem to possess. Blessings

The God of Time, Chronos, and his wife Anance, Goddess of Destiny (my Patron and Patroness), are both connected with serpents.

I think snakes are also associated with Hecate, because they are associated with Medea, who worked with Hecate's help? I also have dreams about snakes--in modern times they are generally regarded as being very transformative. I tend to only have this connection with rattlesnakes.

Its fun to check out Lady White Snake, or the White Snake Demon, who was a Buddhist (?) demon who wanted to be good. Chinese made a really cute Kung-Fu show about her--you should check it out on YouTube.

Wadjet is the Ancient Egyptian cobra / snake goddess which lies on the pharaohs crown. She is a fierce guardian which protects the pharaoh from his enemies. Snakes are generally seen as guardians.
