The World is your Oyster

Post by sheelanagig »

This is another poem composed and written by myself,

The World is your Oyster

The World is your Oyster they told me at birth
Then steadily trained me to forget what I’d heard.

Stop dreaming and listen, is what they would say.
You’ll never belong if you don’t do it our way.

Forget all that nonsense that’s filling your head.
Put your back to the millstone and work for your bread.

Forget fancy notions, they are not meant for you.
Your one of the millions we control… Yes we do!

Your caught up surviving and grappling with life,
The sadness and madness that makes daily life.

No time left for me now, well that’s what they all think.
For the world is my oyster, and here’s how I think.

In the dark silence of deep starry nights,
The world is my Oyster, for I’m taking flight.

Into stories, the music, the colours, the sound,
For my mind has now opened, and my feet don’t touch ground.

For I know I’m a spirit, more free than a bird.
My bodies but a vehicle to live on this earth.

Anything’s possible when you let yourself go.
And when you come back again no one ever will know.

Except for the others who’ve travelled your way.
The world is their Oyster, Hip Hip hip hooray.
