Oui.
Monday my boyfriend will hopefully be coming over (he's a believer in the Christian God). And i'm going to make us cupcakes. Then probably meditate or a ritual.

I'm sorry to ask about this, but what exactly is that?
I think that I've been told of it before, but I don't remember either way.

Imbolc is tied to Brigid [usually] and is seen as the first day of spring for most that follow the Celtic wheel of the year. It's all about rebirth and bringing light back into the world.

I'm bumping this because it's that time of year again.

I found this ritual online: http://paganwiccan.about.com/od/imbolcf ... te_Sol.htm

I'm thinking I might do that...

Imbolc (also known as Imbolg) is a fire purification festival and a time to worship Brigit. The fires of the candles represents the returning warmth of Spring. Imbolg is actually derived from Oimelc, which means 'ewes milk'. One of Brigit's symbol was the ewe. It is a time to spend with fire, your home, sweet food and divination. Below is a general idea of how my family celebrates Imbolg.

-Red, White & Black Candles; Colors sacred to Brigit.
-We give an offering of fresh Blackberries, which are sacred to Brigit.
-During the day we all make a crown of Elder to wear during ritual. The Elder Tree was sacred to Brigit.
-We celebrate the Ewe's milk and the first Spring flowers.
-We all create a poem to Brigit (no one knows what the other wrote), which we burn in the candle flames during ritual.
-We have basil incense, garnet and onyx all around.
-We eat Lemon Vanilla Curd Cake, Irish Truffles and Barm Brack. All with wine of course, my family drinks entirely too much wine.

I will post pictures of my altar up here. If anyone is interested in the food we make for Imbolg, I can send you the recipes.

my Imbolc ritual

Post by Moonlight Maverick »

Well, this year, I have class on Feb 2, but I plan on having a little ritual when I get home. I like to have a little bonfire and burn the rest of our Yule garland decorations, and I also make it a point to turn on every light in the house while doing so. Kind of saying, let spring come soon!

Well over in my side of the woods we're celebrating Lughnasadh hehehe. So for me, my fiance and i will probably be going out and being active (competitive sport type active), i'll be brewing up one hell of a feast, and doing a ritual of harvest and sacrifice.
