The Secret Keepers

I don't want
to be like them,
the secret keepers,
the dwellers
in turmoil, the
sedated ones,
inebriated ones,
burned alive in
the fires of
their addictions,
the dissociated ones
who've had a great fall,
and never put themselves
back together again.

At times they
arise, as had the
king of Babylon,
Nebuchadnezzar,
from grazing in
the wild fields
of their minds,
from crawling on
all fours, faces
covered with dew.

They rise up, returning
from long absence,
joining the living again,
feeling alive again,
seeing their bodies again,
combing their hair again,
looking once more
like women
...women returning
from beasthood.

But, I don't want to
be like them, the
secret keepers, the
story holders, the
silence bearers.
I don't want to
be like them
...again.

To Rhyme or Not to Rhyme?

To Rhyme or Not to Rhyme?

Does magic that flows from water and wind,
from fire and earth, from spirit within,
flow stronger in word via rhyming spell,
or could unrhymmed verse do the trick
just as well?

I think, going forward,
I'll make all my spells rhyme,
even if it proves difficult
to do all the time.

'Cause it sounds much more "magical,"
makes spells flow like honey,
though to some reading this
it sounds kinda' funny.

Tell Me Not the Truth

Tell Me Not the Truth

Tell me what I need to survive.
Tell me not the the truth,
just tell me some lies.

Tell me what I need to save face,
so my broken heart won't bleed
all over the place,

so my fragile male ego remains intact
(though I know what you say
shouldn't be trusted as fact).

For the truth causes pain
that I cannot bear.
So I'd rather you lie,
and just not go there...

Don't go to that place
of truth I can't stand, 'cause
I'm more comfortable here
with my head buried in sand.
