the bridge by eldest son

On opposite sides of a bridge they stand; wide-eyes and racing hearts; eagerly awaiting the boat to pass. Two lone shilloutes in the distance. Dawned in masks and cloaks. In his hand a crimson rose, and in her's, a black ribbon. The draw bridge slowly closes becoming one. Breathing stops. Hasten, they spring forth through the open door, as shadows of the past give chase; and their, in the center of time they stop short of their heart's desire. Face-to-face. Unafraid; they gazed into each others eyes and fall into each others arms. Their lips meet with the passion of past life lovers that have rediscovered a dream. Shadows leap from the bridge and fall to their forgoten demise. Their hearts become one. In each others arms they die; and in each others eyes they are reborn. Together they breathe...
