I had a mess up lol

Ok, so yesterday morning I decided that I was going to cleanse the red heart shaped Alabaster stone that I had. So I mixed up some salt water and fully submerged it and left it over night. Well this morning when I went to rinse it off, it was kind of discolored. So I'm assuming that you can't leave alabaster in salt water over night?
