Irish Celtic Gods & Goddesses
In reply to some recent requests, you will find an updated and combined list of Irish Celtic Gods and Goddesses. Feel free to post any questions, comments or suggestions. These lists focus on the primary Gods and Goddesses, that my family celebrates and works with most frequently. There was also a request for pictures, so the pictures placed below are those found on Google which I believe to not be too far fetched. If there is not a picture listed, it is because I could not find a credible picture.

The only two stories I know of that she is part of are; The Story of the Tuatha De Danann, The Rivalry of Diancecht and Miach.*loves it*
I am absolutely smitten by Airmid. I am getting a tattoo dedicated to her soon, just have to design it. I love her but she is hardly known unfortunately =( Its hard to find decent information about her
What Gods and Goddesses do you want to read about? There are so many; Greek, Roman, Irish/Scottish Celtic, Norse, Welsh, Egyptian. The list goes on and on. I know that you can find information about most any God or Goddess in an encyclopedia, and watch the information you gather online carefully. Many different websites could state many different facts about one deity.Hmm, im going to the library tomorrow after school, is there any book that you know about all the Gods/Godesses?

The story of The Tuatha De Danann just recognizes her as Diancecht's daughter.Twisted_Pixie wrote:Yeh i love the story how her father kills her brother in a jealous fit because he preceeds him as a healer and how 365 herbs spring up from his grave.... i was thinking of having a sleeve dedicated to Airmid (a tattoo i mean) where it has my favourite herbs and her cloak blowing to the wind etc...

I wish I could find a painting of her cloak with all the herbs, I would hang it in my office at home. Could only imagine how memorizing it is........
You might like a book called, Plant Spirit Wisdom By: Ross Heaven. I read it a few months ago and really enjoyed most of it.
I am not really up to par on any knowledge about the Roman Gods and Goddesses. There are probably many other members on this forum that could give you a wealth of information on them. You might want to try the following book or find your information online for free.Roman Gods and Goddesses?
Blessed Be,
A Pocket Dictionary of Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses
Some books that I'd recommend for anyone interested in learning more about the Irish Celtic Goddesses are:
"The Great Queens" by Rosalind Clark
"The Celtic Goddesses" by Miranda Green
"Celtic Gods/Celtic Goddesses" by R.J. Stewart
"The Pagan Celts" by Anne Ross
And of course reading the Irish myths can be very useful as well. You can find The Book of Invasions and other myth cycles on-line at http://www.ancienttexts.org/library/cel ... irish.html

This is a great book, but it is more for someone who is interested in the bigotry of the early Irish Christians and the abduction of pagan beliefs as related to women in power.Lark wrote:

I would also suggest checking it out at a library, as it can cost upwards of $80.00 used.
I am a huge follower of Cerridwen (Kare - id - wen)
She lived on an Island in Lake Tegid and was the maker of the potion of knowledge. Her servant Gwion splashed some of her potion on his fingers and licked them. He was then all knowing and able to see the future and the past.
Cerridwen pursued Gwion through many differing forms until she finally ate him as a chicken (with him as a grain) and then gave birth from him to a son called Taliesin
I have a wonderful book which has been an interesting read called Celtic Myths & Legends by Edain McCoy
It encompasses not only Irish God and Goddesses but Welsh, Scottish, Anglo-Celtic, Breton, Manx and Cornish as well.

Yep! It was 3 drops and this is my favourite story that describes the three drops of Awen known in Druidic lore. I love it.Avalon wrote: She lived on an Island in Lake Tegid and was the maker of the potion of knowledge. Her servant Gwion splashed some of her potion on his fingers and licked them. .
