Hi!
Well, right now something really peculiar happened. I'm still in the state of half-shock, half-wondering.
So, I was, as usual, doing my ritual... consecration of items, gratitude, a bit of meditation... nothing fancy.
Performed a healing spell for... someone who's in the gray zone between casual friendship & love commitment. She was feeling extremely exhausted due her pressurized schedule and... yeah, the candle is still burning, intentions sent, everything's okay. She was aware of all that, although right now she texted that no change so far (within 1 hour at least, it might still work). But then, upon releasing God and Goddess and blowing their candles, as I usually do... for a second I just couldn't see anything, then found out that my hair is burning!!! If I'd be "lucky" enough to drop my ritual "script" I'd set everything about on fire But, I was in the circle and nothing like that happened, just slightly burnt face and slightly burnt hair. Alive. What was more strange is that I finished the ritual almost automatically, with the proper release of the elements and so on... and after cleaning the mess did a quick two card reading... both knights, of swords and of pentacles. I can't make any sense of it all so far. Was I just clumsy? Or was I disrespectful to the deities? It just doesn't make sense... it could be a warning or something manifesting rapidly...
Should I repeat the ritual & the spell?
Would be grateful for some pointers regards all this.
PS: maybe, just maybe... there was negativity lingering within and it was burnt away...

Honestly, I wouldn't read too much into it. Accidents happen during rituals. A bowl or cup gets knocked over, ink spilled, you forget something in another room, you botch a word... or, something catches fire! Just because a ritual or spell doesn't go perfectly, it doesn't mean you've done something offensive, it just means you might want to be a little more careful next time.

I had a cat wander through a ritual and set his tail on fire. He had long hair, so it didn't burn his skin. Things happen.

I would ditto that, personally I can't tell you how many times I came close and only noticed in the last second to give my candle flame space.Siona wrote:Honestly, I wouldn't read too much into it.
Usually happens when Ieaning over the hearth where I burn my candles only to notice my hair dangling precariously close.
I've also seen people catch fire by turning their back to burning candles, reaching across Altars, dancing to close to candles or
bon-fires with flowy skirts, and my favorite...Altar diving. Thankfully no one was ever seriously hurt. And to my recollection the course of magic was not seriously altered.
When using fire we must be extremely vigilant, I'm glad you are ok...
One tip: stop, drop and roll....if ever one finds themself aflame never run.

I recently had a strange interruption in the middle of a ritual as well. Thankfully I didn't catch on fire, but it definitely makes you sit back and think whether it was something you did accidentally, or your personal higher power trying to send you a message.
But sort of keeping in mind with the advice others gave in my situation... you are the best person to answer that question. It's comforting to tell others that understand and hear about their experiences, but deep down, you are probably the only one that could/would know how your mishap effected your work. Meditation and further contemplation was key in my case. Good luck

I dunno, I am a bit more superstitious. I don't think every accident is an omen, but I see this as maybe you should just not do it. I only had one case where I could say a ritual offended a god and everything that could go wrong did in that ritual, so I stopped midway. (Screw it, was my attitude.) But maybe it just was not time.
I have also burned my hair during some ritual I cannot remember what was, it was funny.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm always fumbling my words and sometimes do things in the wrong order but my spells still seem to manifest just fine!

It's not a ritual if I don't accidentally burn myself XD but really, I'm always knocking my water dish over, burning myself on candles, stumbling over my incantations or just generally being a total clutz. I hope the Gods find it endearing....
I agree with everyone here. It's probably nothing, and I'd wait for more 'poof' before worrying about it.

Well, something actually happened afterwards, so maybe the effect was kinda intended... anyways, I think I know now what exactly happened, thanks to all for replies!
