Hello all, I hope you're having an amazing day!
I know this is a huge newbie post, please believe I am trying my best to wrap my head around everything, but I seek support from people who understand this more clearly than I do right now.
I have several book recommendations from this forum and will be studying those.
I am just feeling very lost. Everywhere I turn, there are more things I should be learning/studying.
What separates Wicca from Paganism? And druidry? Are they very different at all?
I'm feeling very overwhelmed by all the information I have in front of me and I can't confidently answer these questions. This is all very new to me and these religions/beliefs/spiritualities all just came to my knowledge in the last 2 weeks.
These are honest questions and I apologize for how uneducated it sounds.
Thank you for reading (and responding I hope).
Blessed be.

Re: Paganism/Druidry/Wicca Comparison Help
Paganism is an umbrella term which Wicca and Druidry both fall under. Wicca and Druidry are two different paths under the umbrella, along with innumerable others. Today's Wicca is often highly personalized, and practicioners of it sometimes include in their belief system practices and deities that relate closely to Druidry, which comes from the ancient Celtic people.
Research can be tough at the start when everything seems so amorphous! The more you understand the roots of things, the less confusing the rest of it is. Whenever possible, focus on understanding the origins of any system you study.

The map is not the territory, the facet is not the jewel.

Thank you so much for clearing things up for me! Amorphous is definitely the correct word! I am going to follow your advice on studying the roots/origins of those that fall under the umbrella term Paganism, so I can have a clearer understanding & what separates them from each other. I feel like this will help clear my head of a lot of confusion.Shireside wrote:

The book "Pagan Paths" by Peter Jennings is a very good primer for the diverse paths under the umbrella term of paganism (although it may be too UK centric perhaps?).

Tsk Tsk Tsk, Tyrande.
When in doubt.... just be.
The answers will come.
Study? Yes.
Read? Yes.
Listen? Yes.
Set a timeline, a deadline, an expectation of progress..... No, Maiden.
Just Be. Know you are in the right place and the right time and the Universe is unfolding EXACTLY as it is supposed to, at the pace that it is supposed to.
No more frustration.... only Joy, Maiden.
Now.... Go Outside. Ask the trees if they are Wiccan, or Druidic, or Pagan. Ask the stream. Ask the birds.
They will answer when you are ready. Until then... just be. (and study, and read)
Just Be. Because, whatever you are... you already are. So, go Be that. You'll find out what it is, when its time to know.

Your words ring true to me. As a perfectionist all my life I know I can not let that interfere with my path, and acknowledge that understanding will come with time and not through rushing to figure things out.Pallando wrote:

I feel you understand me. Thank you Pallando.

The Wikipedia articles on Wicca and Neo-Druidism are helpful.
