Personally I don't think you should because I believe you should only use spells for serious matters, I am uncomfortable with the idea of using it as a joke, to prove a point.

I totally agree, it doesn't matter how you keep it. Mine is set up on my computer and then I print off any spells and rituals I have taken part in and keep a paper copy of those in a chinese patterned notebook my boyfriend bought for me. But i keep a diary style format on my computer only.

I think you should wait until you are more comfortable with it yourself then speak to your dad in a more general way first about wicca, see what he thinks about it first. Really you do not have to tell him anything.
