Re: Candle making?
I have made those ice candles before. Though I didn't do any of the wax melting or set up. My mom had a friend who was crafty who helped me make candles like that for Christmas gifts. I had chunks of various colored wax inside with the ice and that created the effect that was mentioned plus it was m...

Re: Candle making?
Most of what I had read suggested using a double boiler. My fiance' suggested maybe getting a crock pot instead as the heat could be controlled a bit better and you wouldn't have to worry about being burned by the steam. has any one used a crock-pot in this way before? I'm going to be making a list ...

Re: Faery Wicca
Not all Faery traditions are Wicca. There is Feri witchcraft which is an American traditional form of witchcraft founded and taught originally by Victor and Cora Anderson (Starhawk the author of The Spiral Dance was initiated into this form), there is the Faery tradition taught by Orion Foxwood and ...

Re: Container Spells AKA Jar Spells
That sounds like a wonderful idea. I remember reading something that rivers going away from your house are a good way to dispose of spells and ritual tools where you were trying to get rid of a problem or fix a problem. This spell was a spell to deal with fixing a problem and removing the problem f...

Locations for spells
I thought that this would be an interesting topic to discuss. In my studies and reading of various types of folk magic I have found that location can play a key role in working spells effectively. This can be where the spell is cast or where items are gathered from, or even possibly places to dispos...

Re: Folk Magic and the World Today
Bits of old wisdom from different cultures simply must survive through the ages. A nineteen-year-old Chinese woman and a fifty-year-old German woman gave me very different lore on the same creature. Beliefs will always survive. You just gave a perfect example of how different cultures saw animal sy...

Re: How do you live Wiccan?
I have some daily practices that I use to keep spirituality in my life. I work on my altars and I say prayers. Some of the work is ritualized and some of it is more meditative. I try and live by my ethical code and concepts as best I can. I do magical work when I feel the need to do it. I write blog...

Re: Container Spells AKA Jar Spells
I was thinking that I may go down town on Thursday and walk by the river and pour it into the river have the river take the spell away into the ocean. Which actually works even better considering one of the Gods I worked with in addition to doing the working. Niord is an ocean God as well as a God o...

Re: Do Spells Need to be Repeated?
There are some spells I have found in my study of Hoodoo that are repeated every night or every so often. There are some styles of spells that are designed to b quicker than others so they dont need to be repeated. I think it really depends on the need, the style of spell or magic you are working, a...

Re: Book review for A Grimoire for Modern Cunningfolk by Pet
What I really liked was his personal experiences with the rituals that he shared after sharing the rituals. For me that did more than the just sharing of the rituals did. There are all kinds of books with rituals in them, but not all of them cover the personal experiences within the ritual itself wh...

Re: Blogging Loona's Studies and questions
The first month of training in the Feri tradition was very effective. I'm still trying to understand some of the content but the exercises have been effective in my daily practices and have made a difference in myself and how I feel throughout the day. So I guess I would call that a succsess. There ...

Candle making?
Do you know of any good videos, guides and resources for candle making? This is the next project I want to start working on but I don't quite know where to start with candle making. I have a few places book marked for supplies but the actual processes and the like I'm not sure. I've only ever made t...

Re: Container Spells AKA Jar Spells
Now I just need to figure out how to dispose of the materials in the jar spell since the results have basically manifested. Though I may need to wait a little longer to find out exactly whats going on with the job status. Its complicated...but then again a lot of things in my life have been lately.

Re: Shape Shifting
The book I am reading touches on using masks and trance work to take on animal spirits. It's something I would like to try. I have a fox and an owl mask that I have made that I want to try and use in shamanic ritual to shapeshift. Masks have been a traditional tool of shamans and traditional witche...

Re: Shamanic Journeying
My most interesting work was traveling within the Dragon realms and meeting the Dragons of the elements. That was scary and partially a spirit initiation.
