Re: So do you have a wand, an athame, all or nothing at all?
I have a unicorn letter opener that I use as my athame. It feels nice and weighty in my hand, it's the right shape, but it's dull enough that I don't worry about accidently cutting something I shouldn't (I do not need to wield sharp objects. I recently sprained a toe tripping over a boot. I can't im...

Re: return to send spells
I like the "I'm rubber, you're glue" method. It's quick and simple to remember. I can appreciate that!

Thank you for your kind welcomes, they are appreciated.
And yes, SL, I do some writing as well. I am hopeful that I will be around for a good long while.

Hi Again
Hi! I was once very active on this forum and I've found my way back. I just wanted to reintroduce myself. My name's Heartsong. I'm 31 and a college English instructor. I've been a pagan for a little over a decade. I'm solitary for the most part, but I do get to work with my brother on occasion. I'm ...

Re: My very first Samhain?
Typically, I do a very simple offering of apples and whiskey in my backyard. Sometimes I also fill my cauldron with water and meditate.

Re: sleep paralysis-like experiences at night (haunted?)
I've had a similar experience. It felt like I was in the state between awake and asleep, and an old woman was wriggling her fingers at me and cackling as I struggled to breath. I've read before that instances like these can be hallucinations due to the brain still trying to make the transition from ...

Re: What are Runes?
I went to the local wicca shop and I saw some beautiful quartz runes. I was really drawn to them and nearly bought them because I felt the need was so strong. My question is what do runes do? Is it divination of sorts, prophecy, path finding, answers to questions? fire and flames In my experience, ...

Re: Offerings?
I can only speak from my personal experience, but offerings that you make yourself might be appreciated. Food is always nice and can be buried or left out for local wildlife to eat (if appropriate). The first idea that popped in my head was that you could make a very simple arrow out of wood for Art...

Re: Getting justice and a bit of luck...
I like Blackemoon's idea about carrying a talisman, maybe a coin you bless? You could also make a luck jar with some fairly simple items like mint, basil, or cinnamon. Adding a coin could help focus that luck on specifically money if need be. You could carry the jar with you if it's small enough or ...

Re: Profile info shown first
At one time, gender was something that was shown with location info, but Starwitch removed it so that members could better protect their privacy. That's not to say that it's not open to discussion, but it will ultimately be up to Starwitch, the board owner, to change it again. For the moment, if you...

Re: Magic's origin
I think that's going to be a matter of personal experience and opinion, really, since I don't believe there is a definite answer as to where magic comes from or how it's manifested. For myself, I've always thought that magic is just taking the natural energies of the earth and giving them a nudge in...

Re: How do you label your practices?
I usually just tell people I'm spiritual when they ask and try to leave it at that. I don't want to lie about my beliefs, but I prefer not to start something by openly admitting that I'm a Pagan.

Re: Cemeteries
I've never been fond of cemeteries. They're creepy to me. Might be from watching Night of the Living Dead way too young. Plus, it serves as too much of a reminder of my mortality for my comfort and I struggle with the idea of death enough. I agree, though, that they are more for the living than the ...
