As a general rule, no I don't kill. Most of the time I simply move them to a location that will not bother me. Mosquitos and flies are they exception. I use st johns wort flowers in oil for bruising. You grab the buds and pinch them before you drop them in the oil. The oil turns red. I make it in sweet almond oil. Vegetable glycerine is really thick so I don't know how it will work.

I like Llewellyn's magical almanacs. They have a nice calendar and recipes. It might be considered fluffy by some, but some fluff, especially when your first starting, can be good. I love the magical almanac by Llewelyn. I've been reading it for over 10 years and keep them all for reference. Nothing picks up my mood like spending some time in the pages, but I tend to get lots of ideas so it doesn't help me to focus. I wish the did the datebook in digital form.

Most of the supplies came from thrift stores or yard sales. I think I bought the charms on Etsy. I'm tend to collect things that spark ideas and put aside for later.

I wouldn't worry about the labels, just be yourself. I'm in a very conservative area, too. If anyone asks, I tell then that it rhymes with bitch and laugh. They get really confused and leave me alone.

I'd bet that you could take candles that are already in jars, dip them in warm water to get the candles out, then carve and decorat and re-insert in to the jars.
