Wicca Courses Online

Post by Natascha90 »

Hello :)

I have been seeing a few places that offer Wiccan courses online. It's quite interesting to see these because I feel it would be an easier way to receive guidance while still remaining solitary. I will link a website below that offers. What do you guys think of these types of offers?

I'm also curious to know if they would be a good choice for beginners and if you would recommend alternative options or courses that you trust.

The first one is $1160. That would rule me out as unaffordable. The add had a lot of hype and glorified testimonies before getting to the cost. the trade off...attending a weekend seminar with fees, hotel, meals, transportation would run the same.

The 2nd one is $200 per level. How many levels are there and what is covered in each level? Is it all overview? How detailed is it? For example, in an herbal study program, you'd specialize and have certification on completion. Would a specialized study program be more useful?

To help you make up your mind, make a list of what you want to know and compare your goal with what is offered. Consider time commitment. Cost of supplies while training. What will it cost to meet your personal goal?

There is a section here on this EUTM site that is free (a real consideration) that outlines a self study plan. Its under WITCHCRAFT AND WICCA 101. TABLE OF CONTENTS. There is also a separate ADVANCEd level. Read the whole thing, then decide if you need more. Questions are answered free too. I've looked at it myself and learned a few things.

Thank you SpiritTalker, with still being very new I am having the hard time of knowing where to start and am feeling the need for specific guidance. I love all the books and research I have read but I am still a bit uncomfortable on some level feeling I might do something wrong.

I am going to look into what you have mention and I do very much appreciate it as well :)

The links to those pages that SpiritTalker mentioned are here: Witchcraft & Wicca 101: Table of Contents and Advanced Witchcraft Topics: Table of Contents (which I need to update, haha). They're not quite a fully detailed self-study plan, but a good basic intro to some topics that often come up.

I actually don't think that paying for a course is a terrible idea. Once I'm finished with my current degree, I would strongly consider taking some paid online courses. The one I am most interested in is here: Order of the White Moon (a Pagan blogger that I very much respect got her ordination from that school, which is why I would consider it), although it costs significantly less than the ones you linked to above. I do think there is value in paying for a teacher's time: it compensates for their time, it indicates you are serious enough to make a sacrifice, it holds them accountable for teaching you, and it supports Pagan institutions.

However, I would strongly recommend researching those more closely before you begin. Contact some of their past students, if you can, and get an honest testimonial from them. Think carefully about what you want to get out of a course, and see if the syllabus/learning outcomes would provide those outcomes.

I'm actually taking a course online at the moment :)

I tried to find a priestess locally or a group to work with and learn from. Through all my search I found one.... And they made me extremely uncomfortable.

So through extensive searching and a lot of research and talking to current and past students I found a course I felt comfortable with and wasn't out of reach price wise. Thus far I'm very happy with it.

I actually subscribed to this Wicca course: http://www.unclefesters.com.au/Free-Wic ... 189533.htm

I don't work and I can't afford some of the courses I've also found online but really wanted to keep up with my studies.
If you scroll down, the topics of each lesson are mentioned. I've quite enjoyed it and am on my 36th week. Since each lesson is sent to my email, there are times when I am unable to get to it so it's nice to have it sent to me so I can do it at my own pace. I've found the lessons to be helpful and there's all kinds of information that I can go back to for reference.

Does this one cost money? Sorry I'm on mobile and can't look at the website very well right now, aha.
