Re: Can you stay safe for sure?

Oh I know ab out drawing down the moon. The ex witch that told that said one of the coven members fainted than denomination growls came from her. Blessed be. What is a "denomination growl" if you don't mind my asking. The word "denomination" means either - a particular branch of...

Re: Who Are "The Ancient Ones"?

I meant to say as well, that there are some people who believe that the gods and goddesses of anicient times became the "wee folk" who live in the hill mounds, so of course, they are ancient. There are some people who say you shouldn't call on the Watchtowers, either, when casting your cir...

Re: Who Are "The Ancient Ones"?

"Ancient Ones of Hill and Mound" - - as Firebirdflys said they could be deities, fairies and/or ancestors. In our group (and I think most pagan groups) they are not considered as being ET's or angels though. In Trad Craft there is a group of beings known as The Hidden Company - they are th...

Re: Can you stay safe for sure?

As well, there ARE people who end up in trouble because they play around with things that they know nothing, or not much, about. Before doing a ritual like "Drawing Down the Moon" you need to be trained in what it's all about. It is a Wiccan ritual that is done on a full moon. If it's done...

Re: Who/What to Worship

I would suggest, as Myrth did, to read about the diferent pantheons. A lot of people are drawn to the gods who are from the same country/area that their ancestors come from. For example, my ancestors are native to the north of England and my patron deity is the Goddess of the Celtic tribe who inhabi...

Re: How do I stay safe while hexing?

Ever mind the threefold law. If you hex him, essentially depending how bad something happens to him, it will come back to you 3 times as strong. You would be essentially hexing yourself. Like as mentioned this threefold law has been grossly exaggerated and misunderstood. It is actually not a law at...

Re: Pre-Gardnerian Witchcraft

Don't forget that running alongside all of this since the 1400's were/are the Cunning Folk and Pellars in Britain and in Germany the Hexenmeisters and in Spain and other countries too. Folk magic has never gone away - just hidden.

Re: I have some questions.

No need to apologize - we all have our own ways of looking at things and believing in things :) Peace! Jaerajaws - yes - let the choice be your own personal preference. I have found that as we advance along our spiritual path, sometimes, because of personal experiences and gaining more knowledge, ou...

Re: I have some questions.

It seems to me that if there is a belief in a god, even on a metaphorical level, then there is a belief to a certain point - no?

We can tiptoe around this forever - my beliefs are not going to change and neither are yours - so be it :)

Re: I have some questions.

Of course Wicca is orthopraxic - all it means is "correct conduct" - which goes without saying. When one is a member of a coven orthopraxy is important. I have talked to many trad Wiccans through the years and have belonged to two different covens and was High Priestess of one of them. I w...

Re: I have some questions.

[quote No, I know of many Wiccans and Pagans who are atheist or agnostic. I wrote something more in-depth in a post about non-theistic paganism . However, you'll find that many of them still use deities in rituals, although usually more as metaphors and poetry than calling them literally. Generally...

Re: I have some questions.

Hello Jaerajaws, Welcome to the forum. I have never heard of the book you spoke about so can't offer any opinions on how good (or not) it is. Some books that you may want to read are: A Witches' Bible by Janet and Stewart Farrar (this is an older book but takes you through the Eight Sabbats and the ...

I called upon Aradia for years and she is a beautiful goddess - and yes, full moons are great for contacting her. The "Gospel" is well worth reading. :)

Re: About the threefold law

............ I don't believe whatever I put out will return to me and honestly I find it a bit of a shortcut way of thinking so one doesn't have to really take a scrutinizing look at their moral compass. In my belief, if we are just, we are free to take the route of curses or whatever as we deem it...

Re: Pre-Gardnerian Witchcraft

I think Qwerty was asking about Witchcraft practices before Gardner came on the scene :) There was a lot of secrecy way back then as, like you say, Witchcraft was illegal until 1951 when the Witchcraft Act was repealed. The tradition that Gardner started with help from Doreen Valiente, material from...
