Saginaw Grant

Post by Firebird »

My heart is heavy.
Danced in many circles with this great man.
May his journey beyond be blessed.

I don't have Facebook so I don't know what happened but I wish his spirit a swift journey to wherever they want to be.

Oops, I guess was signed in on my daughters facebook, didn't realize the stream wouldn't show up.
I have a photo of the pow wow last time I saw him in 2019, didn't get a pic of him though,
this is the man (Nathan Logan I think) bringing in the head staff.

As I recall Saginaw was in jeans and his red and blue shirt, not in full regalia that day. Who would have known that would be the last time to be in his presence, as both 2020 and 2021 Malibu Bluffs pow wow was cancelled.
First time we met him was at the CSUN pow wow in about 1987, where my daughter recalls he told a story of how hummingbird brought stars to the darkness.
Ah, this video has him walking towards the drummers near the end, yep in the red and blue shirt. This is the 2019 Malibu pow wow.

In the dreamtime the last couple nights I have had wee glimpses of pow wow years past,
with words and songs that seem more than a memory.
