The doll or poppet is just a tool used in many witchcraft paths. The doll itself is what you make of it. It can be used to hex or heal in any magical practice.

Creating a poppet is another act of focus and coorespondance (making an object and connecting it to the subject) within many branches of sympathetic magic.

Adding hair, nails, a photograph? Just more layers of coorespondance.
