This takes a lot of salt, but despite the long explanation is quite easy to do. If you're sort of a hedgewitch like me, then it's pretty beneficial. Since the post is a tad long I am just going to link it here: https://thespiralgrovecom.wordpress.com ... ion-spell/

I always worry about using too much salt on the earth, really hard on the garden. Do you suppose Epsom salt would suffice?

Yeah I think any sort of salt could work. I never tried epsom, but I don't see how it couldn't.

Hello, I have a question. Is there a difference in using store salt or if I get salt myself (I live near the ocean, so I can evaporate salt from the water)?
I will be grateful for the answer

Salt is salt. IMO there’s no significant difference in how it will work. Harvesting your own salt would add energy of personal effort and bring your consciousness closer to nature’s life giving force. That would strengthen your relationship, but the salt would still be salt.

But back to salt being hard on the garden and ground, Epsom salt is not salt (it's magnesium sulfate), that's why I wondered if it would have the same qualities. I like the sea salt Idea, would use in in other applications though...just sayin

I dont like using a lot of salt on the ground either. Sometimes I sprinkle a little salt.

I could imagine using woodashes for protection (and I know the soil will be thankfull for this).

Yeah I actually tend to buy sea salt when I do it.

I’ll try with sea salt, see how much water I need to evaporate

I think the process of custom salt making is neat as it is developing personal relationship with the sea and salt, and patience.
The question remaining to be answered is, unfortunately, the quality of the local sea water.

I agree, but I live near the Baltic Sea, and it has low salinity. nonetheless
I will try

I was just poking around on Pinterest and saw this idea:

Fill a hula hoop (or section of garden hose) with salt. Duct tape the ends together. Now you have an environmentally friendly salt circle, that’s portable & reusable.

I love this idea! Might get myself a hula hoop.
