Spontaneous Magick

Just wondering if anyone else here is experienced with moving magickal energy around spontaneously. I am fairly well-versed in ceremony and ritual, and as useful as they are, I often find that my more "off-the-cuff" magick holds more power.

So, anyone else prefer the simplicity of improvising over the rigors of ritual?

I do. I feel that improvising is a better way to "connect" with things. If it's planned out and logical all the time, it seems rehearsed and almost boring..

I feel similarly. I feel like the planning sucks the flexibility out of it. For me, boredom is the enemy of the Craft. If I'm bored, I'm not being effective

Hmmm...

Preference ?

No...

Applicability factor , as far as what is needed in the moment ?

Well , yes...

Does that mean in the moment , one shall always be "charged" , thus
able to achieve a more potent result than with planned ritual ?

Absolutely not...

What about factors such as moon phases , geomantic forces dependent on location ,
random interference from the immediate environment , mental clarity , emotional
states...just a few considerations to take into account in answering that question...;)

Have I achieved results in both situations , I considered potent , and accomplished the desired intent ?

Absolutely...

Have there been situations , where I have been placed , or have placed myself , in danger ,
or any situation , which set my survival instinct and thus subconscious in motion , and response ?

Again , absolutely...

Is the survival center , and R - Complex of the brain , linked to psychic powers intimately ?

Yes , yet so is the Neocortex , which would be more aligned with visualization , and planned
ritual , in league with the frontal lobes...

Can ritual done daily , sometimes seem a chore than pleasure ?

Yes , however , once it becomes automatic , due to "practicing" the Craft , and Magical art ,
the Adept does not even notice it...it just is the entrained consciousness set in motion...

I myself , after 40 years of Art and Craft , have seen both situations have their successes ,
and learning curves , or "failures" , as well varying energy states involved...

However...I ***never*** get bored...

That comes from a lack of seeing opportunity in the moment, which can be utilized to further
one's growth , development , and interaction with the universe in spacetime , and beyond...

Besides...I work with my Traditions code system , continually...more fun than a barrel of monkeys !

Hope I answered your question , Anastasiya !

I rarely work with ritual. I do try to follow the moon phases for what I'm doing.

I am in the broom closet, so all my spells amd rituals are spontaneous and unplanned. My parents are out, I cast the spell I was thinking about since last week. I am alone in my room, I do a short ritual. Funny enough, they all seem to work well. If I make a plan, I forget things and the magic goes "puf".

As long as I connect to what I'm doing, and center well, then "nearly-spontaneous" works for me. I use mini-rituals like grounding, center-breathing and charging. And I do work with the Moon.

Over the years, following a standard ritual format (do a, then b, then c) has helped me to raise energy, and in some ways to focus, but I become distracted with too many things to remember...even with a list and prep-work. I found ways to work around my short comings and handicaps. I don't get bored if I'm having fun doing what I Ike doing, so variety and playfulness have been useful. Blowing bubbles in moonlite, spinning a sun catcher, baking corn bread and popping corn to share with the birds...whatever it takes.

@Shawn Blackwolf

Your answer is just fine, though I gathered from your answer that you greatly prefer ceremony and ritual to spontaneous energy manipulation. Am I correct in observing that you prefer aligning yourself to outside forces to accomplish goals, as you mentioned codes, lunar phases, geomancy, and so on? Its only that you spoke of this kind of ritual alignment and study more in your answer than you did of the immediate.

Also, 40 years is an accomplishment, well done!

Hmmm...

There are moments , and times , for both...

Again...what is ***applicable***...

However , in my Tradition , if you want to accomplish particular
things , access certain dimensions , set in motion certain forces...

One must utilize a highly structured ritualistic procedure...

For instance , many today , say one can substitute items , for
what has been taught to be traditional tools...

Yet , in my Tradition , to open certain doors to realms , we
hold it to be true only those tools shall accomplish that , not
any substitutes ;

For example :

The Wheel Of Directions :

Black Water In North
Yellow Air In East
White Fire In South
Red Earth In West

Blue Fire As Vertical Axis

Bowl Water And Silver Chalice North

Incense And Oak Sword East

Candle or Bowl Flame and Yew Wand South

Bowl Of Earth ( Iron Soil And Loam ) Stone Pentacle West

Bowl Of Salt and Copper Athame Center

Just for a beginning...or the doors do not open...

So certain things may be accomplished by spontaneous means...

Some not...at least by my Tradition , and many others through time...

In this day , and age , in what we perceive as time , people want
immediate satisfaction , and results , or information without proper
study , sometimes for years , before one attains the ability to hold
and run currents of energy necessary for certain operations and
magical workings...

It just does not ***always*** work that way...;)
