Chiselwink...great name. Hi and welcome.

All I ever encountered of witches when i was growing up was the old Bewitched TV show, The Wizard of Oz, & Witchy Poo from Saturday morning H.R. Puffinstuff. So a witch was just something that was not real and I couldn't take seriously. Ain't life strange?

The unappealing paths are the viscous, twisted, or spiteful things that people who are viscous, twisted, or spiteful use it for. The thing-itself is neutral. Some of the so-called Traditional practices use the witch's own blood as an ID tag. Spit will suffice, it holds the DNA and water is life giving. If a sacrifice is required, for pity sake, use an egg. If urine is called for, use vinegar and spit in it to make it your own. Some of the old time, folk magic spells come from very grass-roots living styles. So that's when I update and substitute. If a spell component turns my stomach, it isn't going to do my mental focus of intent any good to force myself to conform to something outside my acceptable range.

I get into the sentient Earth part of the Craft. I really love this planet.

Welcome to the Forum and I hope you enjoy it.
