Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

We went to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta this year and had a blast. Except when people smacked into my sling. That was painful. We got to see the "glow" and the fireworks on Saturday, and a morning ascension on Tuesday. We spent most of Monday visiting location shot areas from Breaking Bad. My son-in-law even got his picture taken in front of Walter White's house. Our accommodations, at Embassy Suites were lovely. It really helps to go with someone who offers two room suites when traveling with four kids and two adults.

This week is the week of the Albuqueque international balloon fiesta. I recommend it if you want to try to travel here next year. It is always the first and second weekend of October. And after the ballon festivities in the morning there are a lot of things you can do. Sandia Pueblo puts on a arts and crafts fair that is very high end. It is at their casino and if you want you can park your RV in their RV lot. If you rent a hotel room you have to schedule it months in advance because people come from all over the world. There is Petroglyph park on the west side of Albuquerque that I recommend. Also on 12th street and I-40 there is a Pueblo cultural center that has exhibits that are interesting. Old Town Albuquerque is nice, especially if you want to get ecclectic New Mexico souveniers.

Now adays you cannot get your photo in front of Walter White's house from Breaking Bad but you can probably go see his "grave". The owner of the house has gone through a lot of crap with tourists wanting to see that house, throwing pizzas on the roof, etc. So it is fenced off and a big sign says something like "take your photos from across the street". I don't blame her, some people can be quite rude and disrespectful.

Many movies and some television shows are filmed in and around Albuquerque.

I concur with the petroglyphs park, really, really cool. The energy there is intense.
