Iced Honey Milk

This is a really, REALLY tasty recipe, and also so easy that anyone can do it. (We made it for our local Society for Creative Anachronism medieval feast - yep, I'm one of those folks). It's very rich and delicious; I imagine this would be a beautiful libation for deities, or a great thing to bring to any pagan gathering. I believe the original recipe was from the Game of Thrones cookbook, but we don't follow that one to the letter, because it's quite simple in concept ...

Ingredients

1 gallon milk
1.5 cups of honey
cinnamon (to taste)

Directions

1. Heat the milk in a stockpot over medium heat, until you can see the steam rising from the surface of the milk. Don't let it boil or scald.

2. Stir in the honey and spices until it's completely dissolved.

3. Let cool to room temperature, and then refrigerate. Serve over ice.

That's it! Enjoy!

I've never had horchata before ... just had to google it when you mentioned it. Looks tasty! Although iced honey milk seems simpler, and more do-able with stuff you get from the grocery store ...

I've seen this recipe before. :) This is one of the recipes my high priestess had in the coven BOS. She called it fairy milk. :fairy: I've never had it served over ice. I'll have to try it that way some time. :)

This sounds delicious, thanks for posting. I may have to try a version with a milk substitute, because my boyfriend's deathly allergic to milk... or maybe I'll find someone else to share it with. Sounds delicious, though, would be wonderful for a cakes and ale ceremony.

I don't actually know how to make horchata or what is in it exactly  ...
but we make a hot drink that uses rice milk and cinnamon sticks, you could sweeten it with some honey or sugar, but the cinnamon makes it pretty sweet.

we have a similar situation here, so the rice milk is a great sub. I especially like a hot cup of this on those cold and/or rainy winter days (or nights!)
thanks for posting Xiao, this is really a yummy beverage, Hot or Cold!

Mmm, almond milk with this sounds great; I'll also have to try the heated version of this recipe : )

Same here, I've only tried the heated one, but in the version I make, I add a bit of powdered nutmeg. Sooo relaxing, especially winter comes!

I'll try the Iced one though, sounds tempting.

sounds like something you could also leave a small portion out as a tribute to the fairies in your gardens
