Greetings everyone!

At school, we are making our own masks in our drama class. So, I decided to make a mask of earth (The element). So, I plastered the face, making the head a bit larger than normal. The mask is a full wrap-around, so there is a lot of decorating space. Now, I want to decorate it with real meaning behind it. So, all of you earth-aligned people out there(or anybody else), if you were making a mask of your element, what would it need to have?

I shall be sure to do that. I'm not a very artistic person, so I'm relying on other means to make decisions for me (For example, to choose element, I threw items representing each element on the classroom floor and interpreted the meaning of how they fell)

Be sure to use clay! This seems really cool by the way. I'd love to meditate with an earth mask on ha :) I'm just weird like that.

Love,

I am also an artist (among other things really I am a person who always has to work) so I like to create things with a duality to them, reminding people of the frankness of our world.

Well, I painted my mask today. It took me a full hour just to put a base coat of brown on the dang thing. The plaster wasn't being very helpful, so I ended up having to force the paint on. Tomorrow, I will take it home and finish it. You'll see pictures when I'm done!

well, I had to finish it today, because it was needed in action tomorrow. If I had more time and I didn't have to wear it, I would have done a much better job. But, it already nearly crushes my head when I wear it, so I had to stop. It isn't up to my standards, but I hope I haven't offended the elements too badly! I might consider making a mask for the other 3 elements too though, because it was quite fun.

Well, we finally did our presentations with our masks! My presentation with Sarah (a very kind and intelligent girl who I know to be a witch by the symbol she wears, even if she expertly avoids the subject when it arises) went very well, and our teacher praised us for our performance. It was a story of a young enchantress who summoned an earth spirit to do her bidding. She commands it to take revenge on her enemies. However, the earth spirit fought against her control, and a powerful battle between the spirit and the enchantress followed. The spirit manages to gain the upper hand as she tires, and succeeds in killing her.

The experience was great, and Edward (the mask) and I were one and the same during the performance. Once I construct an alter when the situations are a little different, he'll have a prominent place beside it. I've also decided to make masks for the other elements as well, so when they are done I'll post pictures of them too. And talking about pictures, Edward will come home with me soon, so I'll get a picture of him then.
