"If your beliefs are true then you should easily be able to defend them."

Being able to defend one's beliefs in no way suggests they are true. Nor does the act of someone ripping your arguments apart automatically mean you are wrong.

But it's good you want to learn and increase your knowledge. I might just pick up a book but hey...to each their own.

I find books only take you so far... And then you must exercise what you have learned.

Hat off to Ankhhape. I didn't exspect to see that indepth of a point made on this post. I am truely impressed. As far as reading a book verses debate I think we could start a thread just on that if we wanted to.

hehe Mobius Strip :P I like totally didn't pay attention to this thread because I wanted to give my opinion.

No such thing as good or evil. Deities don't generally come down for anybody they have other things to do. Energy=Magick. And Science can SOMETIMES explain things. Hells Science is a form of Magick :P

there is good and evil, which would be considered white and black. but few things are pure one or the other, most forget the shades of grey. there are also the ideas of law (order, bound to rules, etc.), and chaos (freedom). which i think would be green and red (in that order).
everything is based from energy, string theroy makes sense, spells would act like plucking strings, which could have a great effect. god(s) exist. magic could be split into: magic of the spirit(spells, praying, etc.) , magic of the mind (science, tech.), magic of the heart (poety), and magic of life (evolution, survival, etc.)

thats what i beleve, feel free to argue with it. does this make sense?

I would venture to say that good does exist and evil is relative. Evil is when you go against good not necessarily the opposite of good but not following the rules of good. I know many of you don't believe in YHWH but in order to illustrate my point. God made the angels. The devil was one of them. He (the devil) chooses to do his own thing instead of serve god. If god is good then the devil is evil but God could easily choose to destroy the devil as the devil is merely one of his creations. Therefore if the devil is evil for not following orders we would all have to be evil for the same reason. What about those who do good but do not worship god. Are they then evil? How can one be evil and do nothing but good? The Taliban believes that we are all evil because we create forms of temptation. Is not that the devils job to tempt man that man may not reach the criteria to enter the kingdom of heaven? If America made the internet then we tempted some young entrepreneur to use it to make pornography. By making the pornography available the entrepreneur is tempting the pious Muslim to fantasize about women that are not there wives. This is a sin to them and since we indirectly contribute to the sin we are all evil to them. Just as because the devil is against man entering into heaven he is evil to mankind but not the polar opposite of a malevolent god.

Who are we to say what the rules of good are? Honest question. Not exactly disputing.

Music is the magic of existence in my opinion. It can affect everything. When I listen to Joe Hisaishi my friends said that my aura would move with the music automatically and flow like it. They'd know when it got to a commanding part because it would spike. lol I kinda gotta hold it back when I'm trying to be sneaky sneaky

Does WE belong to THEM? :d Who is to say that that is good? Why are we so bloody empowered. As far as beings go, we're a pretty pathetic race. And pretty self-centered, arrogant and egotistical as a whole. And its a concept, but that doesn't mean its divinely right. Again perception comes in. In one's self you know what is right or wrong and make decisions by it. But because you have that right, who are you to say someone else doesn't have the right to do the same?

How does this effect that good and evil can only exist inside of our minds?
Actually,if humans are as bad as we can make them sound. Then what does that say about our concept of right and wrong? ......

.....If God can not be judge by human standards of morals, then are humans more moral then God?

If there is no good and evil, then how can we be "messed up"?

We can only define messed up by existing...Calling our existants messed up is circular logic.

Because we're in a vicious cycle. Think about how Chaos and I have been going back and forth. We both were right. Think about it. Connect the dots. :P It is one of those things that make me smile and jam along to Eric Clapton and Adam Ant
