You're definitely not emo, but you do understand emo people a little. You are introspective, but not to the point of driving yourself crazy.

You're the furthest thing from emo. Sensitivity is not something you exactly cultivate... and you can't imagine weeping over song lyrics.

Alright, I'm a fossil. What is Emo? The introspection thing is true, though.

It's like walking down an empty street, listening to your own footsteps. But all you have to do is knock on any door and say, "If you'll let me in, I'll live the way you want me to live. And I'll think the way you want me to think." And all the blinds will go up, and all the doors will open, and you'll never feel lonely. Ever again.

EMO
"In the early 90s there was a movement in the hardcore genre that came to be known as "Emotive Hardcore," spearheaded by Rites Of Spring. Harder-core-than-thou kids, who swore by Dischord Records a la Minor Threat, actually coined the term "Emo" as something of a put-down for the kids who really liked Rites Of Spring, Indian Summer and this new wave of "Emotive" Hardcore bands. Often, more recently, this gets intertwined with post-hardcore, and understandably so - that's nothing to make an issue of, since well shit, at least it's close.Since the late 90s, though, bands have been emerging in the vein of Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, and the thousands of their clones. As far as I can tell, some lazy journalist somewhere, writing an article about them, decided "Well, f*ck, no one knows what emo is anyways, so I'll call these bands "emo" - sounds more appealing than bubblegum pop rock..." and the spiral continued downwards into the current amalgomation of bands MTV has told everyone is "emo."

Somehow, people decided that "emo" meant "emotional," which is obviously bullshit, as 99% of bands make music to illicit emotion. Personally I like alot of Emo's, but if they think its just something you call yourself then they sure as hell aint one!"

Found that on a friends site. Personally i just say emo's are just trying (and failing) to be Goth :P lol

Some of my vetreran goth friends call them "Not-a-gothy!"

Not all goths have a sense of humor, but they tend to be in the minority. It's one thing to have a sense of humor, it's another to take one's self too seriously.

One of my favorite bands wrote a song about it: "If I only were a Goth" by ThouShaltNot. See also the card game "Gother Than Thou" which is fun for a lark. There was even a website that talked about the different kinds of goths... it was called "Tamagothy" and it was hysterical. Unfortunately, it appears to be dead. This was based on the tamagochi, and even had a quiz so you could find out what kind of goth you were. :-)

I know right! That was one of the things I checked. And the quote the meaningful music lyrics. I bet anyone who takes the time to listen to songs with a good meaning will do that :P
