Hi, all! Sorry I have been gone for so long! As a way of making up for my long absence that was caused by me having to deal with some spiritual problems I was having, here is some knowledge I can share in return! This is an easy/intermediate spell that requires a lot of concentration (as all of mine do) but with enough practice and dedication, is guaranteed to work!
In this day and age, literacy is taken for granted. Reading and vocabulary are underrated. Many do not major in English any longer because it is discouraged and they are told it will not yield them a good career or pay. With that said, this is a tribute and dedication to language by helping you learn to read! Without any knowledge of grammar and the way words work, you will not have any good incantations! If you find it hard to take time out of your day to enjoy a good book or get lost in a story, this is perfect for you!!
First, start by closing your eyes. Alternatively, focus on a little central dot/focal point in front of you (but make sure there is no bright light or distractions in your way, as you'll be doing this for a while. Doing this in the wrong environment can damage your eyesight! You have been warned!) You will need to clear your mind so there are no thoughts/desires or worries in your way. This is the beginning of where all magic and the origin of life and the universe comes from. Do this for at least 10 minutes, but make sure to take breaks if you get tired. After enough concentration, you should have built up enough confidence to channel your energy/willpower into the spell.
You will need some books, or alternatively something lengthy to read (like a blog or a website, pdf, whatever.) No short stories, comics, etc. This is for bookworms only! After focusing your mind, you'll need to concentrate on what you want to read. Imagine the time and place it was written, the native language of the author, what culture it is from, its prose style (for example, Shakespeare) and then start to visualize all the words you will think will be written in that work. Do this for at least 30 minutes. You're free to take breaks and go about your daily routine while you practice this exercise, so long as you do not get distracted.
Now wait until you pick up the first book you want to read. Was it the same one you imagined? That's all! Have fun.

Re: beginner reading spell
Should you be in a library? seems it would be difficult to pick up a random pdf.
I think I would also like to write down the words, see how they work with each other, since visualization is too fleeting for me.

Yes!- There is nothing wrong with being surrounded by books. If you don't have a collection of your own, a library or other public place would be good. And while the goal is to expand your own internal vocabulary and work with your memory of known words, if it's too daunting at first, a dictionary or something equivalent can help as a tool. PDFs are easy to find online, but if you already own digital encryptions of existing books, that would be best so you don't have to pirate anything.
Just know that tools are just that- tools; And you want to be able to do this with your mind above all (or else it's not really magick, is it?) But practice makes perfect! Your ability to adapt this to your style without significantly altering the rules for doing the spell properly is absolutely crucial! Basics come first, though, so too much experimentation at the beginning can result in doing this incorrectly. However, too much obedience to the instructions can result in a lack of creativity, and stagnant repetition, leaving you with very little but a copy of someone's idea. I don't expect anyone to do this exactly like me by the time it's over, but it would confuse readers if I didn't teach responsibly.
With that said, the ideal, then, for everything I've posted on these boards would be to stick with the basics first, observe your results, and then gradually discover your own new ways of doing it. Such is the natural progression of a witch. Obviously everyone makes mistakes at first, though, so please start small and only do difficult tasks when you are ready!!!
