Simple Circle casting?

Hello!

I'm at an odds atm, I'm strapped for time and I've just found out I have a baby on the way, so I'm always feeling ill and quite crappy. (Happily Ill & crappy lol)

- I'd like to start working on my circle and creating a sacred ritual space so I can start doing spells/rituals and not leave residual energies behind for my Boyf to pickup on. (Broom closet, yay :/) And I'd like a sacred space now I have it connected with my unborn son or daughter.

Does anyone have any pointers to calling upon a circle simply? Or know how to cast a circle in a small amount of time, effectively? And the tools to help that along? It's something's I'm dying to try and make sure I get right. Even if it is a simplified cutback version - and I don't want to just make it all up myself without some sort of inkling into if it works for others. I'm a high believer in negative entities and energies and would hate to accidentally have them drawn to misused magic or something.

())I've never cast a circle, and now I feel ill all the time, it's even harder to wrap my head around it, and I want to try more rituals and spells before my
Bub comes to connect with my god and goddess and spiritually prepare myself)))

Any help would be awesome!

Blessed be! xox

Hello, smash089,
I'm by no means a specialist of circle casting (I rarely cast any circles at all), but whenever I want a cleansed space to work in and don't have the time to cast a full circle, I simply sweep a space starting east to west and then mark it with salt or herbs, depending on the spell I'm working on. This way it can be easily vacuumed after I'm done or I can put a rug on top if it's a several day ritual.
This, again, is just my way of doing things, but it works for me, so I hope it's helpful.

Some witches cast with a wand, a stick of incense, a censor, some with a sword or their athame, some used sand or salt, some with their finger, some with mind alone. Some witches believe that walking in a circle deosil (clockwise) will make the circle and counterclockwise (widdershins) undoes the circle.

One has to project energy like with all magick and direct it to create the circle and establish a boundary between "regular" space and "sacred space".

Many witches also like to physically and energetically cleanse the area they are going to cast the circle at before creating the circle in order to assure the space is purified before creating the boundary.

I usually cast a mental circle. I had very limited space and resources for a number of years, so I really kept it simple. It was also less conspicuous if I was doing something at work, to do it mentally. I was very out of the broom closet at work, but seeing stuff done still makes some people uncomfortable. I became quite fond of snapping my fingers and saying "shields up." It's all in what works for you.

My advice is to take things slowly. First of all, magick woks at it's own pace. There is no need to race through the learning process or to race through rituals. Except perhaps in the case of having a limited time to do rituals before unsympathetic family comes home. That's just an example. :) Second, I don't believe that one should be doing much magick when feeling ill. If you're not at your best, you're magick isn't likely to be either. Not only can the illness itself have an effect on your magick, any medication you might be taking can also wreck your magick.
Work with your mind. Using your mind for your magickal endeavors is like the benefits you get from exercising your body. Your mind is your strongest tool. Physical tools can be expensive or cheap, but no matter their price, they can come and go without our consent. It's quite frustrating to find a lovely bowl for offerings at a yard sale, then lose it during a move without ever even getting a chance to use it. :( Think of tools as training wheels and your mind as a bicycle. After riding your bike with training wheels for a while, you were eventually confident enough to ride without them. After practicing magick with tools for a while, you'll eventually get to a point you can practice without them. If you're confident enough to try working without tools in the first place, you won't have to later train your mind to work without them. If you want tools, that's fine too. Sometimes we need the extra reinforcement. :)

Thankyou guys.

- I definitely am more of a mental person and might try mapping out my circle with salt/candles. As echo_of_shadows has said, family members are a definite setback to my castings.

Do you guys say anything to cast your circles aswell? - I've seen a few incantation in books to be said when casting a circle and was wondering if they were needed if doing it mentally?

- and is sage Incense a good cleansing for a circle space? :)

You may recite the words mentally if you don't want to be heard.

Sage is good cleansing for a circle space. But there's actually a lot of herbs that can be used other than sage.

My Quick-Cast, abbreviated method starts and ends in the East. The circle disipates by walking through it.

Circle around deosil↩️ thrice - 1st sprinkle mixed salt & water to introduce earth+water, 2nd fume with incense to Intro air+fire, 3rd point, load-aim-shoot, to cast the circle.

Say ‘round, around, and round about, all good in and all bad out. / As I walk the circle is cast, guarding all and holding fast.
(reference Doreen Valiente)

And that's all. Finito. :surprisedwitch:

Not long ago I thought of a method to draw the materialized circle without necessarily having an athame, without using salt that burns plants in nature or without using flour or chalk that is sometimes not practical depending on where you are both inside and outside.

It is a question of materializing the circle with Mountain Ash/Rowan berries ( Sorbier in French ). I found this method after reading Mut Danu's book The Tree Mothers: Living Wisdom of the Ogham Trees, which is part of the Apple Branch tradition, which uses the Oghams in their practice. And the Mountain Ash is a tree that is connected to an energy of protection and witchcraft through visual symbolism, there is five-pointed star, or pentagram, on the stalk of each berry.

And if you want to clear the circle with a broom it's easier to clean.

⁜→ Panthera, et al,
(COMMENT)

I think that is quite an alternative.

Question: Do you know if it shines or glows brightly due to fluorescence due to UV Light?

Most Respectfully,

I must admit that I didn't test with UV light because I don't have any.

Practice starhawks tree meditation?

-----

(personal ideas)

A simple circle (example) - easier with practice, shielding, grounding and energy work. Because nothing worth doing is ever really instantaneous. Practice is golden. *I use the tree meditation first.

Stand and regulate your breathing. Face northward or eastward (whichever feels right).

Calm yourself. Center yourself. Close your eyes.

Hold your left hand (or not dominant hand) downward and recieve or draw energy into your palm and up your left arm. Take your time.

Hold your right hand upward palm open until you can feel energy gather.

Open your eyes.

Keeping the left palm held down drawing up energy, place the right hand extended outward, either index finger first or palm outward and while pushing the energy outward watch for any auric disturbance, white or blue tinged 'smoking'.

Keeping the stance, turn a complete circuit, feel the energy follow. You could pause at each quarter and intuitively visualise each element.

Then raise both hands together. Stretched above your head, turn palms outward and sweep them downward, pushing the energy like an egg, then bringing the hands upward like a cup to your solar plexus.

Then holding both hands to your solar plexus, move them so you are holding a sphere of energy (I visualise two entwined comets swirling from the solar plexus). Extend your hands and invert them and push them and the energy outward so the sphere (or egg) surrounds you - the sphere youu held now expanded to surround you. You could visualise the summoned elements merging into a cosmic egg which expands to become the universe; microcosm and the macrocosm.

Then spend time building and enjoying the energy flow and the center of the Circle.

Its an auric sphere and its also a grounded magical circle we live within but are often unfocused and unaware of.

Afterward ground the energy (or not if you use a freeflowing conduit) - do something as a closing ritual to alter the state of awareness.

A circle has to have objectivity and life, those are my two keys. If it takes moving furniture or putting a fountain in well so be that.

You know it was a very good post of Panthera back then.

What I experienced sleeping in a tent was a same challenge as for house - not enough protection from random astral lurkers. So what I did was I put a piece of garlic clove to each quarter and cross quarter of a tent, meaning 8 directions. Also 1 in the middle to centralise.
This way the result is remarkable.
Similar as tip to put stones or spices to 4 corners of the room, if you do it to cross-quarters too, the eight-way plus in the middle as a bonus... it is pretty much as good as full circle perhaps.
