For herbs I'd buy from your local farmers markets. You'd be amazed at what you can do with the herbs and spices used in daily cooking. Plus they would be fresh and you could dry them yourself. As you dry them you can pray or charge them and get to know the spirit of the plants.

Finding tools in the natural world or making them yourself can be an important part of a practice. My wand for example was gifted to me by a tree in a park. I also have a lovely collection of sea shells and sea glass I'm going to start working with in spells and rituals. Nature is a powerful ally. If you ask her for something she will find a way to provide it.

I agree, 100%. I keep meaning to learn how to make my own incense, but it keeps getting put on the back-burner.

One of the places I go to myself, is Isis Books. They have quite an assortment of items for sale Link Here. However, I highly agree with everyone else here, where making your own items is a bit better. It's a little more "pure" in a way I suppose, because you're putting your own energy into it when you're making whatever it is. It also has a sense of accomplishment when you're somewhat self-sufficient with these things. Sure, it's great to get tools and such as gifts, and in reality, a toll is never really 100% your for the rest of your life. I have yet to meet a witch that has used the same tools for a very long period of time. Growing your own herbs is a great place to start, as many of the common ones can be bought at small shops and easily grown indoors (which is great if you're a New England witch like I am, and outside growing is just out of the question most of the year). Making your own tools is good too. As stated somewhere else of the forum, I make my own wands, and, wands for other people. I would be more than happy to post up tutorials on how to make them yourself, and that's one great tool to really put yourself into. Another fun thing to try for the more daring, is to make your own boline or athame. It's a bit more difficult, and unless you're a experience smith, the first few products of your work don't come out 100% perfect. As to making your own incense, here's a quick link for you on that too. Skimmed through it, and it seems to give you at the very least, a good place to start if you wanted to make your own versions =) Link Here

I agree, 100%. I keep meaning to learn how to make my own incense, but it keeps getting put on the back-burner.

This was actually the first thing I had to learn how to make. My fiance' is hyper sensitive to most synthetic scents. A lot of the incense sticks out there use synthetic oils and chemicals for the scent base. For this reason I could not use incense for a while. Then I learned how to make my own by grinding dried herbs in my mortar and pestel and then sprinkling the mix on hot charcoal.

Ebay, Amazon and 13 Moons are wonderful sites I purchase most of mine on there except for my candles and incenses which I get from my local occult shop.

Variety shops are good for things like candles, incense and oils. I don't know if you call them 'variety shops'in the US but basically shops that sell a bit of everything and are usually quite cheap.
