How Do I Develop My Psychic Abilities?

I went to a psychic and she told me she senses that my ability would be clairaudience. How would I develop this or any of them? Blessed be.

Didn't she say any more or give you any advice then? Or was she after more money to offer development? What made her say this?

Those links have some pretty easy and obvious ways of improving clairaudience, but they don't seem to emphasis the safety aspects and the basic guidelines of developing any psychic sense such as using grounding and protection and learning how to control the ability, nor do they explain about believes and the types of clariaudience that may affect you.

Ravenstar what else did the psychic say and what kind of reading was it? Have you been hearing things already and did you tell the psychic?

One of the things that has really helped me is accepting the fact that I have a gift and it is real. So much of my life revolved around hiding my gift, or explaining it away. Basically, just disregarding it and saying I must have an over active imagination. When I finally recognized that the ability was real, that what I was hearing was real, that's when the messages started to come in more clearly. I also find that I can hear the messages better when it's very quiet as well as when I'm not doing anything or when I'm doing something very mundane that doesn't require much though. An example is when I'm driving to work. I go the same way everyday and it takes me about 30 mins to get to work so after a few minutes I sort of "zone out" while continuing to drive safe. Another time my abilities are the strongest is right before I'm about to go to sleep or during meditation.

But, thanks for your words of caution, Ivy. They are merited. It's good advice to be in the habit of using safety basic precautions when working in metaphysics, such as praying to one's spiritual allies for protection as one works, creating sacred space, etc.

I would add to also be careful of naiively believing everything you hear clairaudiently. Just because you can hear it, doesn't mean you have to believe or act on it. Always exercise common sense. If "a voice" is telling you to believe or do something that your own conscience feels is inappropriate, do not in any way act on that. Just smile, and calmly ignore it. Everything in the spirit realm doesn't necessarily your highest and best welfare in mind. It's nothing to get upset about, just be aware of it.

Sometimes you can't even trust yourself, and you might want to believe you "hear your Higher Self" telling you something, when it is really your ego telling it you. You can distinguish this when you weigh whether the advice has a service-to-self vibe to it, or a service-to-others vibe. Honestly look at the intentions, desired results, etc., behind the message. Always look at the spirit behind a message.

Thanks you guys...good points.
One other thing I'm not sure was included is keeping a journal.
Recording things like time of day, temperature, weather, your mood, your cycle (menstruating women seem to be more sensitive during this cycle)....and especially what you heard and your impression of it.
Over time you should be able to tell what is real and what is bull.
