What's your favorite tarot spread?

Post by blue_moon »

I really enjoyed my tarot deck. Felt really good taking it out if it's bix when I unpacked all my witchy stuff last new moon.
I want to cleanse and bless it during the upcoming dark night. The reason why I haven't used it in so long was probably because I only ever did the celtic cross and it takes for ever... I'd really like to try a new one!

Simple past, present, future spread for me!
You may call me Valerian Moon, or simply Val.

Hard to say, to be honest. You can find a lot of different spreads on the internet by searching for tarot spreads. I often search for spreads specific to the reading I intend to do. I have found readings for just about every topic imaginable using this method, including sabbat-themed spreads.

I always do a past, present, future spread.
It may sound silly, but get on pinterest... they always have different spreads flooding my feed.

I have to admit that I never do a PPF reading and haven't for years, neither do I use the CC anymore. I create spreads for each specific reading that I do. I find that this way they are more accurate and focused on the seeker's needs :)

I really like that method, Ivy, it makes me want to experiment. :)

I've always favored the World Tree spread myself.
Dance like the Maiden
Laugh like the Mother
Think like the Crone

My favorite is this: a 5 card spread. Start with a simple Past, Present, Future spread, these represent factors influencing the situation in question in the past, present, & future. The 4th card goes directly above the middle present card, and the 5th directly below. The 4th card represents what you should know about that situation going forward whether it's advise, shedding light on a relationship that will help or hurt, or action that needs to be taken. And, the 5th card is the likely outcome. If you're likely to heed the advice of the 4th card then the outcome has that factored in, same goes if you're likely to not follow the 4th cards advise. However, no outcome is set in stone, at least that's what I believe. For example, if you're not likely to follow the advise, doesn't mean that you won't, and that will effect the outcome. Also, just because you follow the advise doesn't mean that you or someone else might not do something else as well that effects the outcome.

Two cards. One is the guidance, another is the clarifier. Works for nearly all kinds of situations so far. Sometimes using this spread for two choices as well... I do agree with some tarot readers who suggest to use two or even just one card reading since the message one needs is in one card and the card needs to be intuited as deep as possible, Celtic cross or any other complex spread just complicate things sometimes. Other than that, if it comes to complex spreads, if you need to make a huge decision with many variables, this one works good as well... situation card, two choices: positive / blessing 1, negative / challenge 1, outcome 1, positive / blessing 2, negative / challenge 2, outcome 2. Mind the Major Arcana since it always points to something fundamental. Mind the reversals. "Scary" cards like Death, Tower and 10 of Swords are almost always the biggest blessings ever for so many of us... since they clean up the space for the new to come.

Right! And most of the times, to be honest, the reading with celtic cross manages to update itself in accord to the improved energies around while still carrying the same message ultimately so I don't bother with journaling when it comes to this spread. Every card has to be intuited deeply, the less are in the spread, the clearer is the message.

I did once and also used a "dating method" this was the only time the cc was interesting! And i lost my notes.
I was a bit anxious back then to make up my own or use a 1-4 card spread. Was unsure if I'd do well! And then i never took the time...
Cant wait to get back into tarot!
