Treating Acne with Herbs

Post by HEDDER »

Using synthetic medication might be very easy for any person to get respite from any problem instantly. Are these medications safe? Do they have any kind of side effects? These are some questions that all of us should ask ourselves before taking any medicine or using beauty creams in the future. Synthetic drugs have shown side effects in the future when used constantly. One of the major problems that every human faces at some stage of their life is acne.
Whether it is adolescent or adult, acne is a common problem faced by all. We have the habit that the moment we get a pimple on our face, we apply an acne cream on it. It might subsidize the pimple for that time period. But, they leave scars or return after a few days the pimples make come back again. These beauty products are good for temporary treatment, but, not in the long run. It is high time that one should rely on the herbal remedies that have been in use for ages. These remedies may take their time to show results, however, there is no kind of side effects on the body.
But, what is acne? How can it be cured by herbal products? Acne is skin mayhem where the glands excrete excess oil making the pores swell. It can show up on the face, neck, cheeks or upper shoulders. There are many causes for acne like hormonal imbalance, stress, heredity, sun exposure, poor diet, constipation and indigestion. Keeping the skin free from any kind of dirt is the first step to a acne-free skin. Replacing the beauty soap with an herbal one is recommended.

There are in fact different herbs that can be used for treatment of acne.

I am a licsenced skin care specialist or Esthetician. It is my professional advice to be cautious when trying to use different things because not only if you use different medications you can have adverse effects but there may also be contraindications to the use of herbs based upon what it is you are using currently such as medication, allergies, and from the combination of mixing herbs that contain differnt chemical components.

The use of a mild cleanser such as Cetaphyl or a generic equivalent in conjunction with a mild exfoliant and an astringent such as witch hazel and a waterbased moisturizer if you are hyper-sebaceous which is basically SUPER OILY! is generally enough to combat a mild case of acne such as getting a few random pimples. There ae people however that are not super oily that get pimples also. Some people arent oily enough where in a lipophillic moisturizer would be best.

HOWEVER if you are covered in heavy acne chances are that you have a condition called Acne Vulgaris where in a stronger course of treatment should be sought out. A treatment for this could include a stronger cleanser, use of a disincrustation liquid, exfoliant, a stronger astringent, extractions, astringent again a skin refining and purifying mask, astringent again and then a moisturizer. For some this may even include the use of Telsa High Frequency current where the skin is treated with electricity to kill any bacteria. OR even an Oxygen Facial where concentrated oxygen is applied to the skin to help it "breathe" you skin is the largest living organ in your body and it does breathe and secrete its waste.

Only a DOCTOR is capable of making the diagnosis as to what type of skin condition you have that is causing your acne.

It is not the act of "popping" pimples that causes scarring or pitting it is the INCORRECT METHOD in which they are being "popped" or extracted.

some blemishes can be "popped" with your fingers by taking the sides of your finger NOT YOUR NAILS and pushing down and under the pimple then straight up to force it to rupture. There are others that require the use of a tool called a comedone extractor and these are for "black heads" this tool can infact make you bleed if you are using it incorrectly because you are using metal to surround the comedone and the pressure of pushing to force it out. ALSO there are pimples called milia which are a type of skin covered pustule wherein a lancet is used to force extraction. The lancet must be used at a certain angle or degree to be used safely.

The use of herbs to treat acne is something that is ok. I recommend it if you are suffering from a mild version of acne to do spot treatments. Nothing however can replace taking propper care of your skin by cleansing it thouroughly day and night and the drinking of plenty of water.

Just as was stated before there are many things that can cause acne, such as heredity, diet, stress, etc. Though it is nice to use herbs to try to combat this oftentimes embarrasing situation. NOTHING can replace the diagnosis of a licensed medical professional. Once you have a diagnosis then you can search out remedies of a homeopathic nature to try to aid in the combatting of this specific condition, if you choose to not use synthetic forms of treatment.

Thanks for pulling this up Tornadofire. I'm not sure if anyone realized it, but the first post is spam. :p I'm cutting the link. Though the rest seems useful and the OP makes a decent point.
