Spring by Alma-Tadema

Post by Firebird »

Thought I'd share with you folks my favorite painting called Spring by Lawrence Alma Tadema. Have yet to find a frame for the poster I got. It's a very odd shape loooong and narrow.
This oil painting hangs at the Getty museum in Los Angeles. First time I saw it I thought how very pagan, look at the size of that incense burner! The horned god statues and the guy playing the pan pipes. And whos the Druid looking dude there? LoL The flowers are amazing. Everyone looks so festive and happy.
Here's more info about the painting:

Merry Spring Everyone!

In a region of shadowless hours, /
Where earth has a garment of glories /
And a murmur of musical flowers"
