We made our annual Brigid's crosses for the Imbolc ceremony.
They are used to bring protection to the home.
We traditionally burn last years, transmuting any negative energy the cross absorbed.

A bit like Palm Sunday. Get the new palms, turn in the old ones, which are burned to make the ashes for Ash Wednesday of the following year. I amazed that I even remember that.
