Happy Yule! Tree Decorations, Talismans, Runes...
Happy Yule! Tree Decorations, Talismans, Runes...
Hi everyone,
Hope y'all are well!
I have been thinking about putting a little tree in my living room, and hanging some acorns with red thread to the tree.
I heard this is a protective amulet used by the great, late Scott Cunningham in his Book of Shadows;
I also have pine cones which I have also read have protective properties.
Has anyone ever experimented making their own Yule tree with ornaments.
Please I would love to hear your experiences or any ideas for talismans to bring in a positive new year filled with love, protection or even for our individuals personal evolution into higher states of energy and love.
I wish everyone a happy Yule.
Awaiting beautiful Yule's Eve
awaiting the sunrise
Merry meet, merry part

One year I had a small tree and no ornaments, so I used jewelry & felt elves that were traced from cookie cutters. I didnt think of it, but I could have used the cookie cutters themselves. Salt dough ornament? Cinnamon sticks with ribbons?

You can put bells (their sound repels evil forces) and sun or star cookies. Or cut them from colored paper. You can draw protective symbols on handmade paper ornaments. Use ornaments that symbolize all elements- candles/lights for fire, birds for air, fish for water, trees for earth. Play with colour symbolism, too!
Lights are a powerful symbol of positivity and hope.
Sweets, especially if you can find something with real honey, can be used for attracting goodness into your life...

Thank you so much for this great information. I am interested more in the idea of incorporating honey into the tree?moonraingirl wrote:You can put bells (their sound repels evil forces) and sun or star cookies. Or cut them from colored paper. I'm glad this inspired you.
You can bake cookies with honey and decorate them with sugar coating and food colorings. There are also plenty of sugar ornaments (tiny flowers, stars, hearts, etc, etc) available at supermarkets that you can use for decoration. Look for them in the section where you can find stuff for baking.
When they are done, make a small hole where you insert a nice thread or ribbon and you can hang them on the tree.
Another idea might be honey candies or lollipops that you can make yourself, you'll find recepies online.
Wrap them into cellophane and hang them on a ribbon.
In your home made sweets you may use orange or lemon juice /peel for positive energy and Cinnamon /cloves for protection.
As you can see, many items that are commonly used during holidays for food and decoration actually contain lots of symbolism, we just need to rediscover it !

This is our tree! The lights are representative of all the elements based entirely on colour correlation we also have butterflies for air, lights for fire, water in the base and the tree itself

I used to work with this German woman who told us back in the old country they would bake rune cookies and hang them on the tree.

That would be cool to make or have a set of rune cut out metal cookie cutters made for get togethers and such.firebirdflys wrote:I used to work with this German woman who told us back in the old country they would bake rune cookies and hang them on the tree.

I think you could make rolled pieces to make the shapes but yeah...cookie cutters would be way cool.

Thank you, there was too little marzipan in the package so it wasn't enough for all of them, but who cares
