Samhain Bonfire Advice, Please! :)

Post by Falcon_Heart27 »

Hi all!!

I've always kind of failed at celebrating pagan holidays fully enough to satisfy me, but this year, I might just do Samhain right. That being said, I'd love some input!

I plan on having a big bonfire and inviting many people. I feel that the energy will be through the roof, as we typically dance and laugh and there is much merriment (we have casual bonfires occasionally).

However, since only one of my friends actively practices magic, (and my boyfriend knows of my "interesting" hobbies only to the extent of my divination), I need to keep things.... On the down-low.

What are some good and quiet ways that I can incorporate a healthy dose of magic into this bright and lively night? There are plans to be movies, music, and food, if that helps/inspires in any way.

Thanks in advance for the advice! I'll post updates after the party!

You could have everyone write on pieces of paper the things they wish to leave behind, ie; bad habits they wish to move away from then have everyone form a circle around the fire and throw them all in at once followed by a cone of power, :fairy:

WWOOO000ooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOAOW!

Then give everone a piece of candy or fruit and tell them "sweetness now fills that void". (So mote it be)

Maybe make an extra plate of food or leave an extra space around the bonfire in memorial of passed loved ones, as if you were leaving a seat open at the table for them. You don't have to make it a huge production, just something small to keep yourself mindful of the holiday and what it means to you.

I'm a fan of Loreena McKennitt's All Souls Night, well really...all her music is good :fairy:
