Basics of creating a spell?

I would just love some guidance from my fellow Coven members. The outline for a ritual is what I have but a spell is quite different. What do I need? I don't wish to put anyone in danger or hurt them - I believe in the Threefold Law.

Becks is right - there are many ways to create a spell and they depend on the path you are following, the intent of the spell and several other factors.

I'm potentially misunderstanding you here, but a "ritual" and a "spell" are terms commonly used interchangeably in most parts (including around this forum). A spell is what you are casting or sending out; your intent. The ritual is invariably the theatrical aspect of how you form and direct your working; the vehicle.

Without a bit more detail I can't give you more specific advice, but I've just given the linked thread posted by Yana a read and it probably covers what you're after.

In Scandinavian folk magic, there are certain things that you need for a spell. For example waning moon, thursday, number 3, midnight, north, you need to be naked and more things.

Some people say you need nothing but yourself and your will.

So it really depends on your tradition what you need for a spell
