Green Witch Cloak!

Post by Vervain »

This is my beautiful cloak that I made I am very proud and excited and my boyfriend can't get me to take it off SQUEEEE!! :flyingwitch:

I love it so much.
Here it is with the hood down:

And with the hood let out:

And the secret pockets I sewed in, exactly the right size for my Mystic Faerie Tarot Deck and Kitchen Witch Spoon:

And my favorite part, or one of my favorite parts, the clasp:

The pattern I used is McCalls' M4698. All fabrics were purchased at JoAnn Fabrics. This took about three days. I made a lot of mistakes and covered them up very well. The instructions are confusing.

Incidentally, the T-shirt I am wearing for these pictures,

which I designed based on the Tower tarot card at Autumn Equinox,

is for my boyfriend's band, THE TOWER, and they are cool and you should listen to them. http://www.reverbnation.com/WeAreTheTOWER

I love the hood folds all the way down like that. Nice colors and nice work.

There was a girl in our group that used that pattern I just love it! That is absolutely gorgeous! Do you mind if I ask how expensive was the material you chose? I may have to make a new cape! Secret pockets are so cool...
thanks for sharing, Firebird

Thanks, all!

Firebird, I don't mind at all. The moss green crushed panne was regular $5/yd on sale for $2.50/yd, and the gold brocade was regular $10/yd on sale for $6/yd. The pattern called for 8 yards of each and I bought almost that much but definitely didn't need it all. I have enough left to make a matching bag and maybe a corset, we'll see. :D

Gorgeous! That's crazy...I made a cape out of that exact same fabric (which, coincidentally, was also bought at JoAnn's). I have that same Tarot deck, as well! :)

That's really nice !!!
I really like what you did with the hood !
That is so cool ! I wish I would have known
that before we finished it ! Maybe I'll make
me another one down the road.
My Mom made me one just before she came
to my apt for hospice. I scoured second hand stores
for the right color and/or material. Wound up
using the heavy black material used to cover
a futon mattress. Took Mom 3hrs of sitting
in front of sewing machine. I just love my
robe, the built in cape is crushed black velvet.
I've been thinking about an inner pocket for wand
...but unsure how ?
A thought...it's heavy duty material so I can
sew some soft leather for wand at the seam !
That ought to work ! You think ?

Thanks for the pattern! I'm not sure if it is within my sewing skills level. I can do simple patterns. I need to study it a bit. But I would LOVE a cloak like this! I really need to check it out. :)
