Oracle Card Recommendations

Post by Oddball »

I have a tough time with oracle cards because they are overwhelmingly positive. Most of them have nice affirmations but don't give me any hard truths on how to look at a situation/improve myself/warn me about something. I had some decent readings with the Druid Oracle, but that's pretty much it. Anybody have recommendations?

Have you tried the Druid PLANT Oracle it's out of print but you could find on EBay.

If you're looking for cards that have more of a "hard truth" to them, then I have three recommendations.
1. Energy Oracle cards by Sandra Anne Taylor, these are by far my favourite cards I own. Each card has has both a positive or more negative side based on wether the card is upside down or not. Another good thing about them is they don't just leave you in the dark so to speak. If you read the meaning of each card both the positive and negative reading will have a suggestion on what to do to help better the situation. And finally each card also has a short but sweet affirmation you can repeat to yourself.
3. If you enjoy working with Spirit Guides then I suggest Messages From Your Animal Spirit Guides by Steven D. Farmer. These cards much like the Energy cards also give you a recommendation as to how to better a situation.
3. Earth Magic by Steven D. Farmer, lots of these cards have a "hard truth" to them. However in my personal opinion they don't really give you any guidance. But still a good deck.
Let me know if you want some examples of the cards or any more information. Hope this was helpful!!

Oddball...
Maybe I Ching, I found Brian Browne Walker's version easy to understand-
altho there is many versions you might look at also. Its not all sunshine
and roses, when you fall off the path per se, options are given.
I don't know how much experience you have had with cards...
I went thru tarot.com, one deck at a time over 3-4 days looking for my
cards...perhaps when you have free time you could explore the site-
I got a tingle when I got to my cards. How long did you read cards ?
Tarot not Oracle can be more realistic I still suggest going thru the
site if you are wanting cards.

Pendulums are easy to work with, phrasing the questions can be
time-consuming-so I'd suggest getting them set first. But can still
be fun to work. I would suggest getting a book on pendulums so you
have info on what can be done/not done with them. I prefer to make
my own, I have some of different lengths for different moods. (I'm weird)
My favorite one has 10in chain w/ Ametrine heart on one end and an
Amethyst point on other end-crystals flat end has 1/3in purple layer
and the rest clear. It hangs by my chair in FR cause I use it a lot.

Recently I've been prompted to get a black mirror, this is very new
for me but if feels so right to the point I spent more on the black
mirror book than I've ever spent on any book ! (I'm thrifty)
Again I do not know the extent of your gifts/strengths...
After skimming thru some of your posts I see you are feeling like
a "lost soul". Knowing this path is where you want to be, I feel you
are pushing yourself down the path. Might I suggest some quiet
reflection-not meditation-deep thoughts. Make sure you have paper
and pen/pencil it write down thoughts and ideas that come to your
mind. You know the ones that come from Deity cause one wonders
where that thought came from ! Make sure to mark those special...
Let us know please, what you have come up with, which way you
are leaning or anything new !
You can PM me if you want to, have questions or even bounce ideas
off my head. I'll do my best to answer your questions...!

I like it when they are overwhelmingly positive --

I have an I ching oracle deck that tends to point out the truth in reality that I already know - I'm not really a fan of all the negativity in society

I'm really just trying to focus on the positive -

I don't like to read from the I Ching deck - I just stick with my favorites

so it's the Tao Oracle by Ma Deva Padma - if you want to go there

all my cards are magic - but I don't really trust all of them

I am pretty comfortable with the sacred traveler oracle by Denise Linn

I can't really afford to focus on negativity at this point in my life

Petit Lenormand for its marvelous method of reading, like a story revealing Itself. The cards meaning is in relation to other cards. I use the enchanted oracle but have always had my eye on the 'under the roses' deck.

I actually began making my own deck many years ago but it was a project I never completed. There are companies where you can print your own playing card quality decks.

Overwhelmingly positive? I don't get that vibe from them - they can give pretty blunt responses.
