Kind of hard to tell from the photograph, but my first guess would be Indian tree agate- white base with green marbling.

the woman in the shop said labradorite but I don't think it looks anything like

Moss agate has a more wholesome green color, meanwhile tree agate has spotty appearance. Either way it's most likely a "green" agate.

It looks like a tree agate to me, definitely not labradorite!
