Tapatalk - Is Anyone Actually Using It?

Post by Starwitch »

If you are actually using Tapatalk (an app that provides forum access from a smartphone) on a regular basis, and you don't want to see it removed as an option, please state your case below.

Having Tapatalk attached to the forum makes it harder for me to update the forum, which means it rarely gets updated, which means the website could get hacked. (It's happened before.) We were also getting a lot of spammers and trolls registering through Tapatalk. I've turned off the ability to register through the app, but our members can still access the forum through the app. If you think it's important that we keep Tapatalk, you can plead your case below. Keep in mind, you can access the forum through your phone's browser, although I realize it's not ideal.

I'll probably also get rid of the chat room feature since all I see is one person per day saying hello, not getting a response, then the next day someone else says hello and gets no response. The forum just doesn't have the kind of traffic to warrant a chat room.

Hope everyone is doing well and getting vaccinated, if possible.

I don't have a smart or dumb phone. The joys of cell free goodnevil
And seems kinda silly if it is too much trouble to access a site via your browser, seriously how lazy are people getting these days?

I'm totally fine with the chat room going bye bye. It has no way to delete questionable stuff posted there.

I found this forum through tapatalk. Is there another way to access this forum?

Use a browser,
tapatalk actually diminishes what you can view here. And when one puts up a tapalk emoji those without tapatalk cannot see it.

Thanks everyone. I removed Shoutbox and Tapatalk. They're gone. I emailed the eight Tapatalk users that were left after I deleted the other 140 inactive or spam members and let them know they can access EUTM through their web browser. I appreciate everyone's feedback here.

KookieKrisp, I apologize for removing Tapatalk, especially since you're a fellow Yorkie mom, but you seem to be the only member currently using it to post to the board. I hope you'll find your way to us through a browser.

No worries! I have logged in through the website before, but found it easier on TapaTalk. I will definitely keep using the browser. Thank you so much for thinking of me :)

Hi, I’m one of the folks who had Tapatalk but wasn’t using it. A few years ago it changed from being useful to being full of ads and pay levels. I ignored it for a long time. Kicking it out, though, reminded me about this forum. Thanks!

Hey Moonlit Hermit, Come on in we missed you.
Kookie... Hi again!
Ya and I understand some of your viewing capacities were diminished when using tapatalk.
I know some forums have a easy view section for those who are having difficulty viewing a bunch of content on a tiny phone screen, perhaps enlarging the areas in question is an option?, I'm pretty sure there is no easy view format here. but hey, then you won't miss nothing right!?
Let us know if there are any questions.
Welcome back folks loveface

KookieKrisp, if you're using the browser in your phone, you should try the original forum style. It's designed to work better with phones than the purple template is. Personally, I use the default style on my account. (I changed yours to the default and emailed you about it. If you don't like it, just email me back and I can change it back.)

To change your board style:

  • Go into User Control Panel.
  • Select the "Board Preferences" tab.
  • In the "My board style" drop-down list, select "prosilver" for default design that comes with the board software or choose "ProMoon" for the custom purple design that doesn't work as well, but it's pretty.
There are a couple others that I installed to test out and never deleted. They had some formatting glitches that made using them difficult (like, for instance, Fireflies' little footprints in her signature are three-pages tall, lol.)

Turns out, only 400 members use the purple style. I must have defaulted everyone back to ProSilver/default at some point in the past.

Nice to have you back, Moonlit Hermit. :)
